Epilogue
I'm back in town for the high school reunion that our batch had planned. I was nervous yet excited because I'll be seeing some old faces and familiar faces. I'll finally see her after 3 years.
I applied to university after everything that happened and I was accepted in one of the most famous university. I'm in the training to be a neurologist.
If you told me this would happen a few years ago, I would laugh at your face and tell you to stop saying things that don't make sense but I guess this is the beauty of life.
Sometimes, all you have to do is to find yourself. To find what you want in life and to be selfish for the good of yourself. I know, some people are wondering "how do you find yourself?" You know you've finally found yourself when you know what you like and what you hate. What you want to do with yourself and what you ought to be.
"Hurry up, mate. We'll be late," Mike shouted from downstairs.
"I'll be down in a second!" I replied.
I got inside his car and said hi to everyone that was in it. I recognized some of them and was really glad that I actually have the chance to see some of the old faces that I've come to known.
Our party this time is more matured and laid back than the party that we usually have in high school. The music was a soft soothing jazz singer that was playing in the background with good food.
I guess, we all grew up.
What caught my attention was her, in her beautiful looking dress, clutching on her purse. She was laughing to something her friends said and looked absolutely beautiful.
My feet betrayed me and lead me to her way and she acknowledged me.
"Kade!" she said, hugging me.
I hugged her for a moment and lingered around her before letting go.
"Hi, Esther," I greeted her, smiling.
"Are you a psychologist now?" I asked.
She chuckled, "Actually, no."
"What?" I was surprised; she always wanted to be a psychologist.
She laughed at my expression, "I'm an English Literature teacher in our high school!"
I gasped, "Are you serious?"
"I am dead serious."
"Enough about me, what are you doing, mister?" she asked with a playful tone.
"In the training to be a neurologist."
"Wow, if I was to tell you that you would be a neurologist when we were teenagers, you would scoff to my face and tell me to stop being nonsense."
"Exactly, I thought I was going to be a beggar in the street since I've messed up my teenage life."
We laughed and caught up with each other when a friend engaged her with a conversation.
I looked at her from a far and think of how beautiful she looks like and there's this strange feeling that developed in me.
I looked at her once again and think of how if she says I love you to me, I would reply her without a second thought.
