Chapter 4—I NEED YOUR LOVE, anyone

Cinder

By then, every person in the room had widened their eyes with horror. I looked at them, confused, and when I looked at Ash’s eyes, I shrunk down. His eyes were full of menace, anger, and hostility that I started to back down. My eyes locked with his terrifying blue eyes. He looked thirsty for blood like a predator hungry for a kill.

“What happened to your hand?” the teacher asked. I could see that she was trembling.

Ash turned towards the teacher, and his eyes bored through her, making her fall to her seat with surprise. He took his glove from the floor and covered his injured hand with it again. I could tell he was trying to ignore the horrible pain. Some drops of blood fell to the floor.

“Nothing in particular,” he said. He tried to control his breathing as the pain took in, but the pain was unbearable. “It’s none of your problem, got it?” he roared.

“He fell,” I blurted.

The whole class turned their attention to me. That was when I just realized that I was actually invisible. They were all looking at Ash and his hand for no particular reason. Mistaking me for a dissolvable ghost, they turned their heads back at Ash, making him a little bit uncomfortable.

“He fell,” I repeated.

“What do you mean he fell? How can someone fell and injured his hand that badly?” one student asked.

“He’s it!” another said. “He’s the murdur—“

“Zip that small mouth of yours before I reshape your face,” Ash said, smirking with resentment.

The students fell to a long silence. From the corner of my eyes, I saw the teacher grabbed her phone and pressed 911. Ash’s sharp eyes flicked towards her, and before anything could happen, he walked towards the teacher with speed as fast as lightning. One second, he was beside me, his eyes staring intently at me, and the next second, he had teleported behind the teacher’s chair. He held one hand in the air right in front of her eyes.

“Put down the phone, Mrs. Dory,” Ash said softly, yet full of threats.

Mrs. Dory refused to listen to him. She quickly pressed the green button to call without thinking twice. Underestimating someone can lead you to terrible bad luck, and this time, the devil had been fishing for her in the lake of fire.

Ash grabbed her throat, and the class started bursting in screams. With one glance from Ash, the whole class quickly quieted down. Some of the students were biting their nails with uneasiness, and some began to faint to the ground.

My lungs were filled with the air of anxiety. I was still standing there. Ash was threatening a teacher right in front of class. He didn’t give a damn about the laws that were literally pointing at him right now.
