Hello readers! I'm so sorry for ditching on your guys for a whole month! I've been so busy at school, I didn't even have much break! But anyway, I'm here now, and here's a new chapter to Breaking the Cinderella Rules. From this chapter onwards, there will be two point of views in each chapter, Ash's and Cinder's. Maybe this can be a foreshadowing for the story itself.. Why do I decide to put two point of view here? Well, the story is going to end soon! Maybe we can finish this in an additional 10 chapters. The ending will be fast, yet also fun! :D I hope you like this chapter, although it's a just a filler.... Will update soon! I promise!

Dedicated to Mararenas for recommending this song! :D

Chapter 26—WAKE UP CALL, Ash

Cinder

There was no trace of Ash in our hotel room. His belongings were gone, wiped clear for a purpose. It was like he had never stayed in the hotel room. His room was clean and neat, spotless. Without saying goodbye, he left us a note on the table, telling us that he had left for some personal matters.

Need to go back. Personal Matters. –Ash

But I didn’t believe that. The words were printed in block letters. Ash would never bother to print the words out of the computer. He was the type of boy who would prefer the simple way. If he was in a hurry, why didn’t he write the letter himself? Why take all the effort to type and print such a short message?

It was strange, but Andrew quickly shook away our worries, telling me that Ash is a tough guy. He is capable of taking care of himself. That statement was true. Ash was a capable man, a tough skillful one. But again, everybody has flaws and mistakes.

Ash was loyal. Despite the killing and dark side he had, I knew who he was. Ash was a loyal boy with a fractured world. He would never leave without a proper. Whatever caused him to leave, I hoped he would be alright. I trusted him to take care of himself. He was strong than anyone else, even stronger than Andrew and I combined together.

“So, what are we going to do now?” I asked Andrew as I stared at the empty screen of the TV, right in the middle of our hotel room.

His eyes mirrored disappointment and worry. For once, Andrew was in his “deep thoughts” moments.

Our dinner didn’t go as planned. Due to the discount, almost everybody in the city lined up to eat. We could barely hear our voices over the screams of the people outside, demanding for a seat inside the restaurant. The claustrophobic noises made me dizzy. I ate quickly and literally pulled Andrew out of the restaurant.

Andrew shook his head as he sat on the couch. “I have an idea, but I’m not sure if you’re going to like it.”

As if a cue, there was a knock on our hotel door. Andrew grinned and clasped his hands together. Gesturing his head to the door, he grinned as I rolled my eyes and went for the door. Andrew and his annoying childish ways had made me laugh these days. I am grateful that he was my friend. In such a black and white world, it was almost impossible to smile and laugh. But I’ve managed to do that. I’ve had fun, cried, and relaxed in a rush of time. My friends made it possible.

Friends.

I twisted the doorknob and peered out into the hallway. No one was there, except for a brown box right in front of the door. On the brown surface, the words Read or Die were written in crimson red. I gulped as I grabbed the box with quivering hands. Maybe our time of fun and relaxation was over.

Closing the door, I gave Andrew a terrified look. He quickly got up and examined the brown box in my hands. His hands rubbed the soft box before starting to rip the cover that sealed the box. My eyes widened as Andrew’s quick fingers revealed the content.
