I'm afraid there's lots of people confused on the Ash and Mason part. I'm about to make more twists with them. The whole plot was supposed to be like this: Cinder kept believing that the Mason she met is her Mason. Then by the end of the story, after Ash and Cinder unveils each other, we'll find Mason as a part of a gang. And something like that. But because people are confused, I'll just delete that twist :) So in this chapter, we're going to know that the Mason we see last night is fake.
I know people are confused about the Mason and Ash business. So let's end it here. Ash is Mason, and the Mason last night is someone else. :) I hope you get it now. The guy who CInder thought was Mason is someone else.. What is his name? Find out in the next few chapters :)
Chapter 12—I want to RUN TO YOU
Cinder
Every time I reminisced that green snake curling around leg, I would bit my lip and grit my teeth. The walls I’ve been building all these years were crumbling down, and I knew that. I was scared for once. All my life, I’ve always wanted to break free of this misery that kept me near my stepsister and stepmother. I wanted to run away from this life that kept binding me.
Please. Please. Please.
“Get to work!” my stepmother screamed in my face. “I won’t keep a lazy girl in my house!” Her voice ricocheted in the Mansion, deafening my ears. My eyes were full of tears, and my legs were shaking. When I looked up, I saw the anger burning in my stepmother’s eyes. Those eyes seemed to burn a hole through me.
I got my cleaning utensils from the closet and slowly excused myself. My hands were quivering, and my whole body was shouting at me to rest. Taking the bucket full of water, I forced myself to stay awake before starting to clean the living room.
Almost immediately, I saw Allison’s true evil form appear out of nowhere. Her minions were standing behind her, looking at me with interest like they’ve never touched any cleaning utensils in their lives. Then my hands started moving. I winced when her friends started whispering of how pathetic I looked.
Gritting my teeth, I tried to keep my own comments of them save inside myself. Spitting the wrong words could back fire at me. After all, there were just too many disadvantages pointing at me. There was no one I could relate to in this house. I had no more family who really cared for me. Tiana and Allison were my only choice until I reach the age of adulthood.
Then I realized something. “Cinderella is not quite stupid,” I realized. She was stuck with her own stepsisters and stepmother. I should be thankful that I only had to handle one sister. Cinderella had to handle her two evil stepsisters. The thought of having two Allisons in the house made me shiver. Having one sister turned the house into hell. How about two? I shuddered and got back to work.
“You missed a spot!” Allison mocked.
I was just about to turn around when her minions kicked my bucket, spilling water everywhere. My mouth fell open, and her minions muttered a fake apology. Anger was burning in every single cell of my body. I wanted to raise my hand, curl it into a fist, and beat these girls up. Secretly, I was considering it, but then my reality came to taunt me again.
Without Allison and Tiana, I would be homeless. I wouldn’t get the best education. There were just too many disadvantages. I would rather drink some poison and die in place. That would be the best plan, but Tiana’s eyes were all around the corners of the house. And if I die, there would be no one to care for everything Mom and Dad had worked for all their lives. Everything they built for me would grow in vain.
