Hello everyone! I'm sorry for not updating Breaking the Cinderella Rules. I was almost too sad when the last chapter got low votes, and suddenly, after I returned from my trip, I found out that it rose to 15 votes! THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE :D I think this story had made me more succeessful than I was worth it :D THank you! Here's an update, and a few facts to clear some questions. These are the facts you need to know and will be discussed in this chapter:

1. Ash is wearing contact lenses. His blue eyes are actually green. The contact lenses made him have blue eyes. Remember the first POV of Ash? He tells about himself not being who he was before. it is revealed now.

2. More of high school drama coming after this. My plan is to include Rose Boy into the scene.

Chapter 9—What’s HONEYMOON AVENUE?

ASHER

I didn’t know my world could crumble in a matter of seconds. Tiredness washed over me as I finally succeeded in forcing Sierra to fall asleep. From the other room, I could tell Mom was trying her best to sleep. I knew she was depressed, and I couldn’t blame her. Her life had turned to drastically after these few years. She just saw her own son evolving into this monster her husband had been.

Sometimes, she would catch me in the door in the middle of the night, entering the small apartment we had in the middle of the city. She would scold me with all her might. I was guilty that I had to do it. Soon, she got tired of scolding me since I never stop coming late at night.

Dad created a huge mess, and he died for no reason. And the mess landed on me since I was the only normal person in the family, not having mental illness or any serious sickness. Yes, I was that lucky.

I knocked on Mom’s door and opened the door, only a bit so my eyes could fit the opening gap to her room. “Mom, are you okay?” I whispered.

“Are you going somewhere, Asher?” I cringed as she said my name like venom.

Guiltiness filled my lungs. I knew she hated that name. She must be confused when one day her son barged into her house and demanded her to change his name. “No, I’m not going anywhere,” I told her softly. “I’m just going to check if you’re okay.”

She shrugged in her bed and turned to the other side, where her eyes could avoid me. “Pretending to care like always,” she said. “I told you not to be like your father. Why are you doing this to me? Why do you demand lots of things from me? Do you even care for me, Ash?

I winced. “You hate that name so much, do you?”

She laughed like it was all obvious. “I named you something else, boy. Why do you even change your name to this ridiculous gangster name? Asher Martinez, really? You’ve changed a lot after your father died. It’s like you’re replacing him now, to make our lives living hell!”

Her words struck my heart like thorns pressed against my skin. Every single word I heard brought another load over my shoulders. I leaned on the wall before sliding down to the ground. My eyes were burning with tears. I was weak, and for once, I was happy that my Mom hated me now.

“I’m sorry,” I mumbled.

“No, you don’t sound sorry. I don’t know how I can believe you anymore, Ash,” she spat.

Tears spilled across my cheeks. I never realized how much hatred she had for me. Imagine something like this. You’re actually trying to protect your mother. You dress up and act like someone else to guard the ones you love. But your love thinks you’re a monster, always demanding and changing.
