I put the car in park with a sigh. After weeks of searching with no plans, no clues and no real idea of where I was going, I finally decided to turn to the one person who might be willing to help me. I placed my hand on the handle but was hesitant to open the door. He had no idea I would be here and I really had no way of warning him. Shortly after I left town, I emptied my bank account and reopened another one with a different bank, an account my parents weren't connected to. I also got rid of my cell phone as soon as possible and haven't bought a new one. I knew I could with the amount of money I now had, but I didn't want to risk my parents having any way of finding me.

I left my home town with my only goodbye being the note I left for my parents explaining to them that I wanted to get away for a while before college started in the fall. I made up some crap about wanting to find myself and hoped they'd believe it. When in reality I left town to try and find Sam Elkin, the boy who I believed was the love of my life. I believed he was in some sort of trouble and left to try and keep me safe. However I wasn't going to sit back and let him put himself in danger just to protect my secret, my gift.

For years now I have been able to feel what other people are feeling. It has been both a gift and a curse. Up until recently all I could do was feel what someone was feeling at the exact moment they were feeling it, and I had to be close to them. However over the last year my gift has grown. Not only can I feel someone's feelings over a long distance if I know them well, but sometimes when I touch a person I can get sucked in the memories that are making them feel this way. This part of my gift actually physically drains me and I try not to use it. However it is because of this that I am now driving who knows where looking for Evan Pryrant.

Evan is a rich kid who I learned got himself in some trouble with the wrong people; people I believe are Sam's family. Then in order to pay his debt off they hired him to get me out of the way, of what exactly, I'm not sure. So, the way I see it Evan is the only person who would give me the answers and might possibly know where Sam is. However, I have been looking for him for weeks and have been unable to find him, so I am turning to my best friend, Jay, or Jeremy Rains. Jay knew a lot about Evan and I was hoping he would have some clue as to where he would hide out.

As I walked up to Jay's house I had to remind myself to breath. We had been best friends for years, but before he moved he told me he was in love with me. I thought this would make our relationship more complicated and difficult, but it didn't. Jay didn't let it get in the way of our friendship, and things were great until he moved away in the middle of school last year. Then we started talking less and less, and soon hardly at all. He tried to talk to me a few times after I was attacked, but I just couldn't bring myself to respond. Soon he just stopped trying. Now after months of not talking I had no idea how he would respond to me showing up at his door, but I was out of options.

I slowly let out my breath as I pressed the doorbell. It was now or never. I didn't recognize the lady who answered the door. However the look on her face let me know I was interrupting something. "Can I help you?" she asked.

"Um, is Jay here?" I replied.

"Who? There is no Jay here." she said, and started to close the door on me.

"Oh, wait. Jeremy, is Jeremy here?" I asked hastily, before she got a chance to shut the door in my face.

"Oh yes, come in, come in." she said, as she opened the door wider and motioned for me to enter. "I didn't realize Mr. Jeremy was expecting any other friends."

"Mr. Jeremy?" I asked, as I hesitantly walked through the door.

"Yes, yes. Come in, come in. I'll go get him. You wait here."

I stood there unsure what to do as she hurried down the hall and out of sight. A smile grew on my face as I felt how happy Jay was feeling. My smile faded when I heard the voice of who was making him so happy. "Were you expecting someone else?" a girl asked. As they made their way closer to where I was standing I felt how this girl was falling in love with Jay. I dug deeper and felt that Jay was really starting to really like this girl, maybe even love her. I started to feel terrible as I realized that I was intruding on their date.

"No, I don't know who it could be." He said right before he turned the corner.

When his eyes found me he froze in his tracks, but the girl behind him kept talking. "Well make em leave," she said, as she came up behind him, wrapped her arms around his waist, and kissed his neck softly. "Why'd you stop" she lifted her head and her eyes found me. "Who is she?" the girl asked harshly.
