3. hotel room

To their surprise, only a room is vacant. Samyuktha looked at arjun....he wanted to cry badly. This situation is really awkward for both. Arjun gave up his hopes on her. He strongly believed they will get divorced in less than a month If possible.....

They went into the room.

"I will sleep on bed" arjun said to her but this time he did not wait for her answer.

"Okay..." Even though arjun did not look back he know she is angry on him. He is also angry on her because he thought she liked him. He never saw that in her words or in her behaviour at least.

Arjun occupied the bed when Samyuktha came near as if to make it clear for her. She did nothing but removed her jewellery and kept it on the table beside the bed.

"I need the blanket" she did not look at him but stretched her hand.  He gave it to her and tried to sleep. She sat on the sofa and thought for a while before taking out a diary from her handbag. Arjun was too focused on her. So he did not see what she brought with her till now. Samyuktha wrote for few minutes and kept it neatly on the table and slept. Even arjun slept thinking about his broken future.

It is 7:30 in the morning. Arjun got up. He was shocked to see the room....he slowly remembered yesterday's events and realised he had left his car on road. He went out. The car is still in it's place. He called a mechanic and got the tyres repaired.

He came back to give her the good news. Samyuktha is still sleeping. He thought it would be bad to wake her up. After thinking for few minutes, he changed his mind and tried to wake her. No response. He removed the blanket to scream in her ears.....only to be shocked to see the blood. He searched for the source. Samyuktha's right hand is bleeding.

Panic claimed him. He took her into his arms and ran towards the car. He drove fastly to hospital. He reached it in half an hour. He felt she is about to die. And it made him kinda hysteric. Doctors treated her first. The receptionist called the police as it is a suicide case. But doctor's opinion is different. They are sure it is a murder case as Samyuktha's wrist has four cuts.....possibly from fingernails.

Samyuktha woke up after an hour or so. Arjun till then was not normal. When the nurse told him she is awake he rushed into the room....

"If you don't want to marry me you could have told me before killing your self. Do you know you are my responsibility! If anything happened to you I will be held responsible for that? Tell me your boyfriend's number I will settle your problem"

"I don't have a boyfriend"

"So what's your problem?" He shouted in fury. A nurse came and asked him politely not to scream in a hospital. She left them in hurry. Arjun turned back to Samyuktha who is silently crying. He felt stupid and asked again calmly.

"I can't tell you....."

"I can help you"

"Nobody can help me. You did not hear me yesterday"

"What did you say?"

By then a doctor came to the room with the same nurse behind him who ran in hurry. The doctor politely asked him to go out as Samyuktha need some rest. Arjun came out not understanding what Samyuktha said.

Arjun went to their room thinking somebody broke in and almost killed her. But the room is normal. There is no sign of struggle or a single drop of blood anywhere except on the sofa. Everything is in their positions. Nothing is moved.

Arjun took the diary from the table and sat on the bed. He first turned to last page to see if she written any suicide letter. The letter shocked him......

Hi dear diary,

This day has given me a lot of goosebumps. Daddy told me about the party I will go today. At first I was nervous. Though we met few times in our childhood I don't particularly know him then. So I don't remember him now. Even though I don't want to feel it but I was tensed about our meet.

He came to the home in evening. When I saw him I suddenly remembered tomorrow is my birthday. He was looking at me with those bright eyes filled with lots of hope I feared he is the next victim. I did not speak with him in the car as I believed our conversation will go to my birthday next day. If he knows about it, he will try to impress me with a gift and die. Those two hours were horrible.

And I got to know he doesn't like me when he asked my name. We both are forced into a marriage. I felt so bad and tried not to speak with him. But he was so patient with me and his hopes did not leave him.

To his bad luck, the car got punctured in the middle of the road. I thought I saw a woman around  thirty looking funnily at us. But she disappeared so soon that I don't know if it's an imagination.

We found a hotel nearby and checked into a single room. I thought I could lock myself in different room for a day but his bad luck is so strong, we have to stay in same room.

I have decided to leave this room at twelve but it is not safe outside. Though it stopped raining I can't spoil my birthday dress. So I finally decided to behave rudely with him so that he won't look at me with so much love and get killed at the end.

Arjun is shocked reading the page. He did not understand a bit she wrote. So he started from the beginning. Only fifteen pages were written so far so he had no problem in reading them. After completing reading he felt Samyuktha is haunted but had no curse. In most of the pages there was written about a woman saying something or doing something to frighten her. Her story is too bad than that cindrella story.

He called her parents before coming to the room. So he left for the hospital. He saw them coming out of her room. Without wasting time, he asked them if the book is true

"We thought of telling you but....your father told he will speak about it with you" her father spoke sadly.

"Uncle, your daughter almost died. Did you ever think about the reason why it's happening? That too on her birthday? "

"We don't want to worry her more. So we never tried to know the reason" her mother explained.

"You are trying to cover her problem instead of solving it!"

"Maybe I can help her" the police interrupted them. They asked arjun before about what happened. But he was too angry and worried he did not answer the inspector properly.

"We can solve our own problem" arjun said to prevent the police involvement further.

The police looked sullenly but did not leave them. So the discussion stopped abruptly. The police though was still stubborn to know about the cause of her near death. He looked at the wrist few minutes after arjun left. The police is confident arjun has caused it.
