7. The doctor's death.

"Don't think you are the reason for his death. It might be an accident" though arjun voice is shaky, he only wants her to not believe that she is the reason of his death. He has absolute confidence that the ghost has done this. But he wants her to think it is not a supernatural death.

"You still think she has changed her mind arjun?  I saw his body......I know she killed him because he was taking care of me" Samyuktha spoke in sad voice. She just stopped crying but that doesn't mean that she will not cry later. Anyone will get prepared to console her. Instead he got captivated for her words  'I saw his body' ......does that mean she saw him die in front of her?

"What happened?" He asked her.

( fourty minutes back.....)

When Samyuktha was free from loud music and also free from the awkwardness between her and arjun, she accepted the call.

"I'm sorry dad....."

She heard nothing from other side. She waited for some time to hear anything. But no answer. She looked at the screen. The call did not cut. It could be signal problem. Sighing, she looked at her reflection before going to meet him again. Her cheeks turned red thinking about him. She tried not to smile but it felt impossible for her. Finally realizing he is drinking before her, she got distressed. Even though she never had a drink she really wanted to drink. If it wasn't for her parents she was damn sure she will end up in hospital for her drinking.

"Stop thinking about the alcohol. There is something more important than that. People are not enjoying having shots. They are just dancing for music. Get out and speak with him. Or else someone will grab him"

She remembered how badly her friends do the ragging. She got to know smrithi when she spoke against jyotsna. Luckily jyotsna liked her guts and they became besties. What if jyotsna is making him feel bad? The thought made her move from the mirror and was about to open the door when she heard a voice calling her.

"Samyuktha......" she turned around, surprised to hear a male voice which she felt familiar. Now the surprise turned into shock looking at the doctor who is covered with red liquid. She feared it is his blood.

"What happened to you doctor! Shall I call an ambulance? Are you okay? " many thoughts are running in her mind trying to figure out what happened to him.

Though he was covered with blood and taking very small steps, he did not look weak. He is smiling. Samyuktha thought he is smiling just to assure her he is alright but she doesn't know what she is seeing is not Dr. Harish but somebody else.

The doctor stopped walking, still smiling at her. At first Samyuktha thought he escaped from witnessing a murder. That might explain the blood though he is totally coated with blood as if he took a blood bath. Then she saw the blood coming out of his mouth, still smiling. She screamed loudly only to hear the entrance door close in response.

He fell down on his knees. Even then the smile did not change. It's like he is not even feeling any pain. Maybe this is a prank. That will explain everything. But she knew it is not. It has something to do with her. She closed her eyes when she saw him( his upper body) fall on the ground.

She suddenly remembered he was too worried about her. He gave her pain killers and that's why she is dancing here instead of wincing for the pain she has on moving. Cuts on her back were painful than the cuts on her wrist. The doctor is dead because he cared for her. The realisation caused more pain than her own.

She opened her eyes only to see the woman, the ghost which is haunting her since her birth stood behind the body. She turned the body and dragged him by his legs. The sadness turned into curiosity about what she is doing here and why she pulled him into the washroom.

She walked slowly trying to understand what is going on. She reached the door when she saw the woman raise her hands midair, clutching a sharp butcher's knife. The woman paused and looked at Samyuktha.

"Are you sure you wanna see him being chopped?" The woman asked innocently. The pretty face is not at all related to the insanity she has.

Bile crept upto her throat. The vile taste of it made it more difficult to speak. She swallowed it hardly and moved out of the area. She controlled her tears from falling down. She knew he is dead before he came to the washroom. She also knew why he died. It is because the doctor is taking too much care of her since yesterday.

Her birthday curse did not change. The consequence just got postponed. She never saw a dead person till then. Even though she is the reason they died she never attended their funerals. Now she saw a person die......she also saw that insane ghost about to chop her.

(Present- as she is narrating him what she had witnessed.....)

Wait a second! What does she mean by chopping? He is not a vegetable to chop. He is a human. What is she doing?

"We have to go back!"

"No way Samyuktha! You should go to your house" arjun though is in shock to hear what she just witnessed, is absolutely firm to keep her out of danger.

"My parents can wait for sometime. We have to save him. We have to save the doctor arjun! "

Not knowing how to calm her, he started the car and went to the pub. He had to push everyone to go to the place where Samyuktha saw his body. He made sure she is right behind him so that if the ghost really did what she said, he can move her quickly. He is not at all ready to see her work but determined to know the extent the ghost can do.

Arjun saw the blood on entering the washroom. The smell is something he is not prepared though. It's clear that the doctor died long ago as the smell is disgusting. He came near the spot where the blood is. He walked away from the blood making sure Samyuktha is not in front of him.

He opened the door tracking the blood. He saw the body intact. There were cuts on him. It can be a message, he is not so sure of it. He took his phone out of his pocket and called the police.

Arjun turned back to see Samyuktha stand still with wide eyes. He did not understand at first why she is not moving. Then he noticed she is looking at something. He turned cautiously towards what she is watching in horror. He is shocked to look at the mirror written 'BE AWAY FROM HIM' in blood.

He has no doubt who written it with whose blood. He also realised that 'HIM' is not just someone else but himself. The ghost wants Samyuktha to be away from him. But why?
