*Max POV*
It's so different without Ross, we never talk anymore although we still live together. Sometimes I get lonely, other times I'm glad we're not friends.
"Max..?" I hear Adam walk behind my desk.
"Yeah? What do you want Adam?" I tried to make myself sound as annoyed as usual but, I'm just not feelin it.
"You and Ross need to make up." Adam suddenly declared. I stood and walked right up to his face.
"Who are you to tell me how to control my life?" He took one step back.
"I'm your boss, I'm doing this for the good of the offices. Go make up with Ross!" Adam started going down the hall.
"Adam! What if I don't want to?" He spun around and looked at me.
"Then you can plan on searching for another job. We don't want this for the office, a quarrel between two people who won't talk, it just won't work Max, someone will have to go." He started to turn around again.
"So you're gonna fire me because of something Ross threw out there?" I was outraged
"Ross didn't start it Max! You did!" I was confused
"How did I start it Adam?" We were having a stare down
"Ross said that you were yelling at him and that you wish you wouldn't have ever met him and he ran back to his office crying! Honestly Max! Just go do it! I don't wanna fire my best editor!"
"ROSS IS LYING! HE WAS THE ONE WHO SAID HE WISHED THAT HE NEVER MET ME! I NEVER SAID ANYTHING EVEN IMPLYING THAT! IN FACT, I MISS ROSS, I MISS BEING FRIENDS WITH HIM! IT'S NOT THE SAME WITHOUT HIM, EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT! THINGS ARE CHANGING ADAM, EVER SINCE *Y* CAME HERE, THINGS HAVE BEEN CHANGING!" I shouted out of anger and sadness.
"Ross wouldn't lie, Max!" My face felt wet and reached a hand up and felt tears still flowing down. I heard shuffling behind me and turned around. The last people I wanted to see were standing there. *Y* and Ross.
"Excuse me." I pushed past Ross and *Y* and headed towards an empty office.
"Max! Wait, come back here right now!" Adam was mad. I flipped them off and kept walking. Whatever, I can find a new job. Screw them all.
*Your POV*
I felt bad for Max. Sure, he's mean but that doesn't mean that he should be treated like this.
"Ross, is what Max said true?" Adam turned his serious look on Ross.
"Uh..mm n-no" I know he's lying
"Ross! It is true?!" The anger in Adams eyes faded and slowly turned into confusion.
"Wh- What makes you think that?!" Smooth, Ross. Stuttering isn't gonna help ya.
"Ross! Not only were you mean to Max, but you lied. To me, to *Y*, to everyone in the offices. Ross, go home, don't come back until you learn how to be nice or don't come back at all!" Adam was so mad at Ross!
"Okay Adam, whatever! I can find a new job!" Ross turned to leave,
"Ross, you're not fired unless you continue to lie or be mean. I said come back when you learn to be nice. You're not fired. Yet." Adam spun and stormed to his office. "Max!" Adam called for Max. I turned to see Max hurrying over to Adams office. First, he stopped by me and Ross.
"Ross, I'm sorry, I didn't think Adam would react like that."
"Save it Max!" As Ross spun around, Max stuck out his arm trying to stop him but Ross just pushed through.
"Max, let him go. There's nothing we can do." Max turned his gaze toward me as I spoke. He had a look of rejection and loss in his eyes.
"Okay....I just- I feel so alone." He turned his gaze away. I set my hand on his shoulder and I felt him tense and then just relax his arms.
"You'll never be alone, Max. You have everyone here, they're supportive. You have plenty of friends." I tried to make him feel better.
"Even you?" The question took me by surprise.
"Well...I uh.." I wasn't sure how to answer.
"I'm so sorry. All I've been is an asshole, can we...start over? I didn't mean what I said... Well, I kinda did...but I said everything was changing, I didn't mean for worse not all of it has been bad..." This conversation has taken a turn.
"Do you really...want to start over? I mean, I won't be staying..."
"No! Please, you have to stay! I feel so bad for all that I've done to you, can we just pretend we just met and give it another go?" He was determined to make this happen.
"Sure, Max. That doesn't mean that I'll stay, I just don't know if I can..." This was getting awkward.
"I'm so gla-" Max was cut off by Adam.
"Max, I called your name a while ago, come on." Max gave me a worried glance and I gave him an encouraging nod.
"Alright." They headed down the hallway to Adam's office.
*Max POV*
It felt so good to know that *Y* and I had started over. I guess I can learn to like her.
"Max, I apologize..." Adam began.
"You know what Adam? It's fine. Don't worry about it." Sure I was a little mad at Adam still but, forgive and forget right?
"Alright Max...Are you sure you're okay? You don't normally forgive people this easily..." Adam flashed a concerned glance at me.
"I feel fine Adam, I'm gonna go finish my editing for the day. You know where I'll be if you need me." I gave Adam a small farewell nod and left.
"What was that about?" *Y* came rushing up to me.
"He just wanted to say sorry but I told him it was fine and he could forget about it." She stopped in her tracks staring in horror down the hallway... I looked where she was looking and my mouth opened in shock and horror...... How could he?!
Cliffhanger!!! Sorry I haven't been updating, I've been really busy and I couldn't find any time to do it. School is almost out so be expecting more updates soon!!
