Jeanette and Simon are best friends. When Alvin starts developing a close friendship with her, the two brothers seem to spark off tension. Jeanette starts receiving love letters from a secret admirer, creating a harder obstacle for the two brothers...
A/N: Omg thanks for 1k+ reads! I'm already halfway through my story, so I hope my readers and voters don't die! I may need more time to prepare the next chapter, because I'm having a national exam soon and I need to focus. I won't be giving up writing this anytime, I will finish this!

Simon stood by his locker at the end of the day, arranging his books. He hoped Jeanette would have calmed down by then. During classes, she avoided eye contact with him, but at the second last class, she managed to force out a small smile at him.
Girls are confusing, he thought to himself.
Alvin was nearby, tying his shoelaces. Simon paid no attention to his brother, also known as his competitor for the affections of Jeanette. It was just not fair that Alvin was so much better at making friends, that he was able to snatch Jeanette away in a blink of an eye. On top of it all, he knew her heart was partially taken by Ammon, and he was worried what would happen after she met Ammon in person.
A familiar voice caught his attention, snapping him out of his thoughts. He turned to see Jeanette talking to Alvin.
"Alvin? I-I need to see you. I need another session." Jeanette requested.
"I-I could be there!" He barged into their conversation.

"Where did you come from?" Alvin raised an eyebrow, angering him.
He began blabbering in a rage, trying to think of an answer. Jeanette backed away from him in fright, standing behind Alvin.
"I was here, literally, the whole time! Thank you- thanks so much for noticing!" He threw his hands up in frustration and stormed away.
Jeanette looked at Simon, frightened by his outburst.
"Is Simon okay?" Jeanette asked with guilty eyes.
"Huh? Oh, I don't know. But the dude's always uptight about everything. He's pretty normal if you ask me." Alvin assured Jeanette.
"I hope so." Jeanette looked at Simon as he disappeared out of her sight.
"Anyway, I'd be happy to help you. Shall we?" Alvin suggested.
"Oh, I haven't really checked my locker. I'll come by later." Jeanette assured Alvin.
"This is about Ammon, isn't it?" Alvin looked at her with a knowing look.
"Well, yeah." Jeanette blushed at the thought.
"Jeanette, I don't think Ammon is ever going to reveal himself. He's never going to come out. The last time he said he would, he left you waiting on your birthday. Look, have you ever thought, what if he's not who you expect?" Alvin asked.
"What do you mean?" Jeanette asked.
"What if his looks are not like you wished for them to be? What if he has habits you don't like about him? What if he's completely out of your league?" Alvin bombarded her with thinking questions.
"Alvin, I don't care who he is. I won't care what he looks like, or what he likes to do, or what his status is. All I need in a boy is someone who knows how to show that he likes me. And, Ammon clearly knows how to do that." Jeanette smiled at Alvin.
"No matter what, I still wish to meet him. I want to let him know that he's been the one to brighten my mood no matter how much drama I face every day and thank him for that." She explained.
Alvin sighed, unable to tell her his secrets.
"I'll see you later Jeanette." He waved.
"Bye Alvin." Jeanette waved back, walking away to her locker.
They both parted ways, leaving Alvin to walk home alone. He searched for Brittany, only to remember that she was probably busy doing his chore list for him. If he was honest with himself, it was really tiring to be with Brittany the drama queen. But now, after getting closer to Jeanette, it did start to seem a little boring without Brittany, and things just seemed tiring for him all the same.
Unlike Brittany, Jeanette was not a very challenging chipette to deal with. She was rather simple and easy going, and perhaps naive. However, things were still complicated because of these feelings he sprouted for her. How could Jeanette mess up his life without even knowing it?
To add fuel to the fire, Simon now holds a grudge against him for that. Alvin understood that it was normal for Simon to be protective over his best friend, but honestly what was the worst that could happen? Weren't they all friends in the first place? It was like the golden trio in Harry Potter. Harry did not mind when his best friends started dating.
"Gee, Jeanette and her love for wizardry is starting to grow on me..." Alvin mumbled to himself, recalling the amount of research he did online about the Harry Potter universe for that owl work.
But on the serious note, why would Simon be so over-protective? Did Simon share the same feelings towards Jeanette as Alvin himself? Alvin just felt at a loss for once, thinking for one that life was complicated.
Meanwhile, Jeanette opened her locker, and to her satisfaction, there was a usual envelope placed neatly in her locker obviously in her sight. A smile grew on her face as she took the letter out. It was quite long this time.
Hey Jeanette,
I hope this brightens your day. I know life has been pretty hard for you for the last two days with everyone judging you, but I think you're brave enough to act different. Don't listen to what others say. I like you just the way you are. The you that is shy, and sweet.
But it's also fine if you're trying to achieve courage. But know that it takes time. No one just turns over a new leaf in a day. No matter what happens, the right people in your life will support you in whatever you do.
I'm sorry for always leaving you to wonder who I am, that you may think it's a joke. But I promise I'll come out of the shadows when I have the courage to reveal myself. Like I mentioned, it takes time to achieve courage. I hope this letter is meaningful to you, like you are to me.
~Ammon
Once again, the letter from her mystery guy touched her heart again. It was definitely meaningful towards her, but she could not help but think that it was really one of the chipmunks, ever since she saw the pack of envelopes while studying with Simon.
Then again, she found it absurd for one of her friends to like her. The language used by Ammon sounded nothing like anything the chipmunks would say to her, not even Simon her best friend.
Simon has used the caring language that touches her heart, but it was always used in a friend-zoned context. Alvin too, but he was most likely to also see her as only a friend. There was no way Alvin could ever like her. Theodore was naturally a sweet boy, but he has a lack of vocabulary. So Theodore was definitely out of the list. It seemed like none of them could be Ammon.
"Life is so confusing." Jeanette murmured to herself, before packing the letter into her bag and walking home alone.
***** A/N: same, Jeanette, same. I totally agree with that sentence. Who do you think won in this chapter? I think both moments were cute, how both Alvin and Simon got jealous. Simon freaked out while Alvin gave Jeanette a lecture. Notice the change in both of their personalities? Simon would have given her a lecture, and Alvin would have been one to freak out.
I think we're getting closer to finding out who Ammon is! But he won't be revealed until after this episode ends.
