A/N: Sorry for this confusion, but I'll explain everything in the next part. This was originally written to be in the book, but I scrapped this off the storyline. I've decided to upload it as a one-shot mini prequel here. By the way, love all your comments! I'm so glad you like the ending!

Sometime after Jeanette agreed to go with Alvin to the school dance...
~•~•~•~

For days, Simon seemed to have drifted from Jeanette. She also noticed a change in Brittany's personality, or rather, attitude towards her. Word had spread that Brittany was going with Simon, which was indeed a shocker news in the school.

On the inside, Jeanette had mixed feelings about Simon and Brittany going together. She felt ecstatic for Simon getting a date, but peculiar that it was her sister whom she thought was way prettier than her, and also somewhat remorseful that she turned him down for Alvin. Nonetheless, she did not want to disappoint Alvin by changing her mind and asking Simon to go with her.

For the first time, Jeanette was actually  anxious about her image. She stared at her open wardrobe, looking at all her jeans and T-shirts of her signature colour. She always wore the same type of clothes, which she suddenly found ridiculous. She wanted to please her date well, knowing Alvin was the fashion type of guy.

"The only dress I have is this disco dress, matching with the snapback." She took out a glittery purple knee-length dress.

"But... I've worn it before. To dinner with the chipmunks and Dave, once." She thought aloud.

"I need a new one. But I'll need help. I have a horrible fashion sense." She shook her head.

Right on cue, Brittany walked up into the room, holding a new dress she's bought. Jeanette took the opportunity to approach her.

"Brittany? Can you help me find a new dress for the dance?" Jeanette asked politely.

"Who am I, your servant?" Brittany scoffed.

"Oh, please Britt. I'm not telling you to shop for me. I'm asking you to shop with me." Jeanette rephrased.

"I just did shopping! I'm tired." Brittany shrugged.

"But you love shopping." Jeanette begged.

"Since when did you get so interested in shopping?" Brittany snapped at her.

Shopping's my thing, not hers, Brittany thought to herself.

"I-I'm not! I just need only one, I'm not going to spend hours." Jeanette promised.

"Do it yourself." Brittany scowled, walking down the stairs, feeling offended by Jeanette's remark about shopping for hours.

Jeanette groaned, sitting on her bed. She needed another person who knew style. A lightbulb flashed on her head and she reached for her phone, dialling a number.

Meanwhile, as Alvin tried out his outfit for the dance, his phone vibrated. He looked delighted at the caller ID, picking it up instantly.

"Hey Jeanette! What's up?" He greeted, catching Simon's attention from his bed.

"W-what? Why do you need me to go shopping with you?" Alvin asked, baffled.
