A/N: Happy Independence Day! Well, I know that because it also happens to be my sibling's birthday xD

Brittany sat by her younger sister for the last period of the day, watching out for the book Simon spoke of. While Jeanette's eyes were on the teacher, listening attentively, Brittany's were on the purple bag where the book hid in.

Honestly, why does she need to read a book she's read before and only recently? Brittany rolled her eyes to herself.

And now I gotta sneak around to confiscate it? She thought further in irritation.

After school, she followed Jeanette to her locker, hiding behind a wall. She then spotted Simon meeting up with her.

"So you excited about tomorrow?" Jeanette nudged Simon.

"It really depends. There's no telling what would happen tomorrow." Simon chuckled.

"What do you mean? We all know that you're going with Brittany." Jeanette reminded him.

"Y-yeah, I know. But, I've never been on a date. As far as I know, Brittany's been on several dates, five of which were first dates with the boys. I'm going to have my very first date of my date history, which... Is empty." Simon said sheepishly.

And it's not even with you, Simon refrained from rolling his eyes.

"It's the same for me." Jeanette agreed.

"Hey Simon!" Brittany greeted.

Jeanette raised an eyebrow at the approaching chipette.

Does she realise that I'm here too? She wondered to herself.

And this is really out of Brittany's character, she added to her train of thought.

"Oh, hey Britt." Simon greeted.

Jeanette looked at Simon, taken aback.

Since when does Simon call her by her short form? She pondered, seeming at a loss.

"So, I was just wondering what colour you were planning to wear, so we could be all match-ish, you know?" Brittany sent a flirtatious wink to Simon.

Jeanette widened her eyes, and her pupils constricted slightly due to her state of shock. Brittany, on the other hand, was unfazed by her sister's sudden silence but made no acknowledgment towards her.

"I don't know, maybe black?" Simon suggested sarcastically, emphasising the common colour.

"That's too mainstream, Simon! You should wear blue because it matches both of our eyes." Brittany giggled in an attempt to evoke jealousy in Jeanette.

Her actions did manage to stimulate a frown on Jeanette's face, but Jeanette herself merely shrugged and opened her locker, wanting to pack her books which she intended to bring home for the summer. Simon noticed this in a flash, exchanging a knowing look with Brittany as they both looked at the girl who decided to be invisible around them.

Simon glared at Brittany, indicating that she may have gone too far. Brittany rolled her eyes in response, hauling Simon to a side away from Jeanette. Jeanette looked at them travelling to the other end of the hall, huffing an exasperated sigh and returning to her cleanup.
