Iris's P.O.V.
"Gah! Don't touch me you fucker!" I hissed, pushing Dr. Smiley away with my foot. "Iris, I'm just trying to help you." he sighed. "I hate doctors! Go away! GO AWAY!!" I shoved him. "Iris, goddammit. Stop pushing the guy! He's trying to help you." Jeff sighed. "I don't care! He's leaving and I'm not getting off the table!" I was standing on my kitchen table. "Iris, if something is wrong with you, I want to know. They aren't going to hurt you." Jeff sounded as if he was talking to a small child. Slowly, I got down. Smiley nodded. "Very good."
He began to examine me. I shivered as he did, but I let him. Nurse Giggles was also helping him. She rested a hand on my stomach. Her eyes widened and she nodded. She proceeded to rest her hand on my head and cheek. "Smiley... I think I get it."Dr. Smiley nodded. "I do, as well." He stood up. "We will call you again later."
On that note, he walked out. "Well... They're strange." I sighed. "Yeah. They're cool people, though." Jeff stared at me. "I know there is something wrong with me, Jeff. Don't stare at me." I sighed. "It's just... What if you get sick? An immortal can't die permanently... So you'll just live an eternity of torture. Dying over and over again!" I stood and kissed his lips, hoping to calm him. "It will be okay."
Jeff held my hand tight. "I hope you're right." He held my hand tight and pulled me into his chest, refusing to let go for long period of time. When he finally did, a look of worry was placed on his face. "I can't watch you hurt like that." He worried way too much.
The two of us spent the rest if the day together. I didn't leave Jeff's side the entire time. We were both worried for what was coming. What we knew was coming. The phone call. Seconds felt like hours, and hours felt like eternities.
Finally, a ring went off. Slowly, Jeff edged towards the phone and picked it up. "Hello... Dr. Smiley... Is she... What's wrong with her? ... Okay." Jeff handed me the phone. "He wants to tell you first."
"... Hello?" I asked. "Ah, yes, Iris. It is time for you to know what has been causing your nausea." I waited a few seconds in silence. "Well... Fucking say it! Now I'm scared shitless!" There was a laugh. "There is no need to be alarmed, Mrs. Philips. You're perfectly healthy. However, you and Jedd better start preparing, as you're expecting." I tried to hide my smile.
"... Thank you, Smiley." I hung up and looked at Jeff. "Are you okay?" he asked, concern in his eyes. "Better than okay, Jeff. We're getting a second chance!" I laughed. "At what?" I kissed him on the lips. "At being parents and having a family."
