"Hi, how was school today?" My mom chirps as I walk through the door.
"I feel as though I was tortured by Satan" I shrug, dropping my notebooks and pencils on the floor before walking to the kitchen.
"You're being so dramatic!" She huffs and I roll my eyes.
"Well, my second period is theatre, I'm practicing" I chuckle, grabbing a bottle of water and twisting off the cap.
"Richard wants to see you next week. He wants to talk about school"
"Richard can suck my ass" I take a gulp of the water and my mom raised her hand, making me flinch though I know she wasn't going to hit me.
"I wasn't going to touch you" She rolls her eyes "I know how you are"
"It's a force of habit" I shrug for what feels like the millionth time.
"Either way, watch your mouth" She points a stern finger at me.
"Whatever mom" I walk up to my room, locking the door behind me and sitting at my window. I open the window looking out at the water that is basically my entire backyard. I sigh heavily, wrapping my arms around my knees, and opening my window, letting the scent of the salt water fill my room.
I think about back when my life was normal. When I didn't have a problem with people touching me, when I had friends, when I had everything I had ever wanted.
Oh, how I wish I could go back.
I hear my mom call for dinner, but I ignore her, not being in the mood to eat. Instead I lay in bed, disregarding my homework, and falling asleep for the night.
I wake up the next morning and get ready for school, leaving before my mom could wake up. I get to school way too early, so instead I drive to get a coffee and a breakfast sandwich before driving back to school, people beginning to show up. I park and walk inside, going to my locker to get my books.
I grab my books and walk to my homeroom, sitting in the same seat as yesterday, putting my head down. My phone buzzes and I take it out, seeing a text from my mother.
From: Laura.
You could have told me you were leaving.
I roll my eyes and type out a response, hitting send.
To: Laura
I left... Happy?
From: Laura.
I'm tired of your attitude.
To: Laura.
Really? I think it works for me. I give off that don't fuck with me vibe I'm going for.
From: Laura.
Watch your mouth!
To: Laura.
I didn't say it, I typed it. There's a difference.
I lock my phone and put it on 'Do Not Disturb' so I won't know if my mom texts me again and slide my phone into my pocket.
The school day starts, and I'm only half present in all my classes. Sure, my body is there, but my mind however is not. Soon lunch time rolls around, and I go back out to my car to just sit until I have another class.
I get out of my car when I only have a few minutes left and walk to my locker to grab my things and move to my next class.

"So, Griffin, let's talk about school" Richard flips the page in his notebook, and I roll my eyes at how scripted this man is "Your mom says you're enjoying it"
"My mom lies" I shrug, crossing my legs and leaning back on his chair.
"Does she?" He writes in his notebook "So you don't enjoy it?"
"Does anyone enjoy it?"
"Have you made any friends?"
"Who needs friends?"
"Answering my questions with questions is not helping anything" He sighs, closing his notebook "I'm trying to help you"
"I don't need help. I'm fine and I don't need friends, I don't need public school, I don't need my mom, and I sure as hell don't need you" I snap, standing up from my chair, going to leave, but he catches my wrist.
"Don't fucking touch me" I growl, ripping my hand from his grip as a feeling of pins and needles fill the skin of where his hand once occupied "Let me leave"
"No, your mom brought you here to get help, and I'm going to help you" He keeps a calm tone.
"I don't want your fucking help!" I scream, and he sighs.
"You may not want it but you need it. You're hurting, and you need someone to talk to"
"Oh fuck you Richard. Shove a dildo up your ass" I swing open the door, and storm out, my mom looking at me in confusion.
"Done already?"
"Yup, I'm done. Let's leave" I grab her car keys.
"I'm going to go speak with him" She walks and I frown, knowing he'll tell her I refused to speak to him. I walk out to her car nonetheless, and get into the passenger seat, turning it on and turning on the air. I lean my head against the back of my seat and wait for my mom to get into the car.
"I'm very disappointed in you" She climbs in with a sigh "I'm doing this for your own good. I'm worried abut you"
"I don't need help"
"I can't let you live like this"
"There's nothing wrong with me" I frown.
"Oh really?" She reaches her hand over to me, and my breathing absentmindedly picks up, and she scoffs "See? I'm your mother and I can't even touch you"
"I don't see the big deal" I shrug.
"Of course you don't" She sighs.
