I smile at Griffin as she sleeps in the hospital bed, looking exhausted. I kiss the back of her hand, getting up when I hear Sophia in her cot, small cries leaving her mouth. I walk over to her, and pick her up, kissing her cheek.
"You're okay" I whisper "Daddy's got you" I walk back towards the chair, sitting down. She smiles and looks up at me, her pretty eyes beaming into mine.
Sophia Mandy Mahone.
A girl that's gonna break some hearts.
She wraps her tiny hand around my finger, her eyes slowly shutting. I rock her back and forth gently, humming a random tune to lull her back to sleep.
I lean back against the uncomfortable hospital chair, sighing heavily, my eyes burning from lack of sleep. I've stayed up with Sophia while Griffin slept, because I know she needed it more than me.
"Austin" Griffin groans.
"Yes Baby?" I ask, looking over at her.
"Come cuddle with me, please" She mumbles, and I smile.
"Let me go put her bac-"
"No, bring her with you. She can join the cuddle party" She smiles lazily and I chuckle, standing up slowly and walking over to the bed. I sit down next to Griffin, and she wraps an arm around my waist, her head on my shoulder "Are you happy?" She asks, quietly.
"Very" I nod "Are you?"
"Mhmm" She hums, her eyes slightly open as she runs her finger along Sophia's cheek "She's so beautiful"
"She takes after her mommy" I tease, kissing her forehead.
"I love her" She smiles.
"Me too" I nod.
"Hi Guys" Tiana grins, walking into the room. I had forgotten they were coming.
"Hi" Griffin says, not taking her eyes off of Sophia.
"Oh my gosh, is this my niece?" She asks, walking over to the hospital bed.
"No" I shake my head, and she rolls her eyes, leaning over the edge of the bed to get a closer look at Sophia.
"She's so cute" She gushes "Zach come look"
I kiss Griffin's temple, and she takes her eyes away from Sophia and looks at me, smiling "I love you" She whispers, kissing me softly.
"Damn, you guys make hot kids" Zach says, Tiana smacking his arm.
"She's not even three days old, what is your problem?" She scoffs.
Their bickering gets cut off by a nurse walking into the room, giving us a smile. Tiana and Zach look at her before looking at us "We'll see you guys later"
"Bye guys" I wave, and Griffin smiles.
The nurse waits until they leave, shutting the door behind us before leaving "Hi, so we've got everything we needed, including a carseat check, and you're free to leave whenever" She smiles "Congratulations" She walks out of the room.
"Oh, thank god" Griffin breathes out in relief "Get me the fuck out of here" She stands up, places Sophia in her cot, and grabbing clothes that I brought for her to change into. She puts them on, and picks up Sophia back up, all of us walking out. We get to my car, and Griffin gets into the backseat with Sophia, watching her while we drive home.
When we get there, we take the elevator up, walking towards the door. I unlock it, and Griffin walks Sophia to her room, one that we worked on together.
