:austin:
"Yeah, you look ugly" She snorts and I glare at her. Prom was coming up and since I'm on the football team, I'm forced to attend. I haven't asked Griffin but it's on my list of things to do once I actually grow a pair.
"No, I don't" I roll my eyes.
"Look, I like this one" Griffin points to a tuxedo, similar to the one on me, it's just less bulky "Since it's a more slim fit, it'll accentuate your legs and arms making you look more muscular and lean" She shrugs, handing it to me "My moms a wedding planner, she helps with what people wear as well" She giggles.
I take the tuxedo and walk back into the dressing room, trying it on. When it's all on and situated, I realize Griffin is very right, and not to brag or anything butt I look pretty fucking good.
"How do I look?" I ask her walking out of the dressing room, and she grins.
"Like a million bucks" She laughs. I take the card from the pocket and change back into my clothes, hanging up the tuxedo and taking the card to the cash register. I rent out the tuxedo, picking the day of, and the day after prom to pick it up and we walk out of the store.
"So, are you hungry?" I ask, wrapping an arm around Griffins shoulder.
"No, but I know you are" She teases, wrapping her finger around the belt loop of my jeans.
"You're right" I nod, finding a small Mexican restaurant.
"You don't even like Mexican food, you find everything spicy" She rolls her eyes.
"But I know you love it" I kiss her temple and she rolls her eyes, pushing me away from her and walking inside. We sit down and order our food and drinks, Griffin, rolling her eyes at me every time she catches me staring.
"Stop or I'm going to punch you" She glares, and I chuckle.
"Sorry"
Our food is brought out and Griffin eats it, glaring at me as she yet again, catches me staring.
"Stop" She groans, covering her face with her hand.
"Have you wondered why I'm staring at you?" I ask.
"No, because I know it's something cheesy as fuck, and I'm not into that"
"I know" I nod with a sigh "It makes me work less hard though so I'm not complaining" I shrug, and she rolls her eyes.
"I'm glad my lack of a romantic personality brings you happiness"
"Me too" I nod, continuing to eat my food. Once we're done I pay and we drive back to Griffin's house. It's already 9 pm when we get there, and I wonder how we spent 6 hours together, but it felt like minutes.
We walk up to her room, her mom waving to me from the kitchen "Hi, Austin"
"Hi" I wave back, following Griffin up the steps. When I get into her room I fall onto her bed, my back against the mattress. I think of a way to slide prom casually into a conversation but before I can Griffin speaks up.
"So, who are you going to ask to prom?" She asks, sitting on my lap.
"I don't know" I shrug "Why?"
"Just wondering who the lucky lady is" She snorts "Prom seems stupid"
"It's the one day most people wait for" I chuckle.
"I'm not most people, am I?" She raises an eyebrow.
"You definitely are not" I shake my head and she chuckles. She leans down and lays her head on my chest "So, I have a question..." I trail off "Well, two actually"
"Hmm?" She hums.
"Does it feel different to touch me now?" I ask.
"Not exactly, it's just not as intense" She shrugs "But, it's also different because I'm initiating it, so it's not the same"
"Oh, I got it" I nod.
"What's the other question?" She asks, resting her chin on my chest.
"Uh" I mumble "Ice cream?" I chuckle, and she rolls her eyes.
"Sure" She laughs.
***
"Go" Griffin pushes at my chest.
"Griffin, I don't want to" I bring her closer, kissing her lips.
"Stop doing that" She scolds, looking around us.
"No one is even paying attention" I chuckle.
"Go to class" She demands, and I look down at her, wrapping my arms around her waist.
"Kiss me first" I kiss her forehead and she rolls her eyes, standing on her toes and kissing my cheek.
"Now go"
"That isn't what I meant" I give her a teasing grin.
"I know, next time specify" She winks "Bye bye" She wiggles out of my grip, and walks down the hallway.
"You two are cute" Rob walks up from behind me, wrapping his arm around my shoulder.
"Thanks" I chuckles.
"Are you going to invite her to the beach house next month?" He asks.
"I don't know, maybe"
"And prom?"
"I don't think she wants to go" I mumble.
"That sucks" He says, before looking to his left "I'll see you later" He walks away from me and I furrow my eyebrows in confusion until I see Lacey walking up to me.
"Hi, Austin" She smiles.
"Hi" I smile back.
"So, I have a question to ask you" She says.
"Okay"
"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to go to prom with me" She looks up at me. My mind chants to tell her no, but she looks so hopeful that it wouldn't come out.
"Sure" I choke out, my chest immediately beginning to hurt.
"Oh, yay" She grins "I'll uh, text you I guess" She walks off, and I immediately run to find Griffin, I stand by her second period class, looking around and waiting for her to show up.
"What are you doing?" She asks.
"I did a bad thing"
"What was it?" She asks.
"I may of accepted an invitation of going to prom with Lacey" I blurt out.
"Oh" She nods "Okay" She shrugs.
"Don't do that" I sigh "Yell at me and call me an asshole"
"Why would I do that?" She asks "Go to prom with whoever you want"
"But I wanted to go with you" I sigh.
"I didn't actually want to go to prom" She shrugs "Obviously if you asked I would've said yes, but now I don't have to worry about going" She says "Have fun"
"Griffin" I grab her wrist before she can turn away from me.
"Austin, I'm not mad at you" She shakes her head "I'm really not"
"I feel like shit about it" I sigh, and she leans her head against my chest, wrapping her arms around my waist.
"You should" She laughs "But only because you're too nice"
"I am too nice" I frown and she looks up at me.
"You are, but I like that you're too nice" She stands on her toes to kiss me. I still can't help the surprise I feel when she kisses me out of no where, but I'll never complain.
"The guys and I are going to the beach house next month, you want to go?" I ask.
"Sure" She nods "But I need to get inside" She gives me another kiss, and lets me go.
"I'll see you later" I tell her, walking back down the hallway, the smile never leaving my face.
