Never Expecting This

Chapter 18

Sonic carried you across the Northamer plains. The cool breeze whisked through your ponytail, causing it to whip in the wind. The tall grass would brush against your feet and legs, giving you a slight tickle. The bright celestial body floated among the stars in the night sky. It illuminated the path ahead, and you continued to dash ahead.

Sonic had been strangely quiet during the trip, but you assumed he was focused on the mission. You had gotten used to the position you were in, but now, boredom was rearing its ugly head. The beautiful surroundings grasped your attention for a short while, but the hedgehog had started moving faster, making everything look like unclear, colorful splotches. You looked up at the black-dressed male. He had his mask pulled down, so his muzzle was seen along with his sharp emerald eyes. His eyes glistened in the darkness. Why didn't you notice them when he was sneaking in your room? You didn't notice that you were staring until Sonic looked down at you. It was too late to face the other way.

"Why are you staring at me?" he asked with an arched eye brow. You had to think of an excuse quick.

"Just....wondering about...uh, your outfit," you lied. The truth would be a tad bit embarrassing. "So, is there any story behind that ninja costume."

Sonic looked slightly confused, but he seemed to let it slide. "Just something I can up with. I use it when I sneak around and stuff."

"Oh, C'mon, you're hiding something. Tell me." you begged.

"Nope, sorry. It's a secret."

"Oh. please, please, please, please, please, pleeeeaaasssseeee."

"Nu uh, nope," Sonic stated as he shook his head.

Hearing the story became your own personal mission, and you weren't going to give up. You brought out the big, cutey eyes as you begged more persistently. "PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!"

The hedgehog continued to shake his head, but you kept the act up. Sonic still resisted, so you decided to use a new tactic.

"I'll tell Sally about the mission." Your blackmail caught his attention. He turned back to you with hardened eyes.

"No you won't," he stated, but you were set on learning his secret.

"Try me," you stated with a smirk.

Sonic looked at you for a few seconds before sighing. "Fine, but you can't tell anyone."

You nodded your head as he began to tell you about his tale of his secret identity, The Sneak. Apparently, Sonic was banned from a mission by the king. Even though he was suspended from being a freedom fighter, he decided to disguise himself as an agent from another zone. He saved a team of agents from the doctor, but after that, The Sneak disappeared. No one knows about his hidden adventure, well, now you did.

Sonic had just finished telling you his tale when a mysterious building appeared over the horizon.

"There it is, " The hedgehog stated. "Eggman's base."
