        "These plans..." you grandfather began.

Mr. Wells sat in his lab, scrutinizing the blueprints you collected with his laptop. Jules, Bernadette, and Sir Charles came with you in order to formulate a plan. (B/N) was also with you, saying that she wanted to help. In reality, she probably wanted an excuse to skip her homework, but it was still warming to have her by your side. Everyone was meeting in the basement laboratory underneath your common abode. The spiderbot rested on your grandfather's head, reading over the machine plans as well. This caused Jules and Bernie to wear curious faces, while Jules was a little awestruck.

"These plans concoct the idea of breaking the laws of time and space! Do you see how unfathomable this is? I know I'm a mad scientist, but this is absurd! " That was not the reaction you were expecting.

"Please, Peter," Uncle Chuck stated, "Dr. Eggman isn't typically the best villain, but when it comes to machines, they do function correctly. He just uses them in the wrong ways. But, with our brains combined with the young Miles, there isn't a doubt in my mind that we can get this up and running. We have the plans. We have the emeralds. We just need the brain power!"

Your grandfather looked serious. "Sir Charles, are you speaking out of science, or out of grief?"

"Excuse me?" Chuck asked, looking offended.

"Grief can make people do some strange things. It can even drive the strongest souls and most intellectual brains to madness. You lost your nephew, and I am greatly sorry. However, to create a machine that resets the world for one person, hero or not, is ludicrous. This machine can make the world unstable, and collapse on itself. I need more than a personal, emotional reason to justify this idea."

You've never seen this coming from your grandfather, the man of funny, humorous devices. Now, he seemed stoic, and logical. This was a side you've never seen before. Yet, his hurtful words did hold truth. This could ruin the entire universe.

You shared a glance to Sonic's mother. Her eyes were glossy, also seeing the logical truth behind your grandpa's explanation. However, you knew that if you grandfather would join your cause, it would take your words to do it. He would listen to you; he wanted nothing more than to help see his little freedom fighter happy.

"There is a logical goal in this plan, grandpa," you began. "If we don't use this button, Eggman will. He's willing to risk the universe's stability in order to see a metallic Mobius. If we don't use this machine before him, we will all be roboticized."

"Then we make sure he can't use the device either," your grandfather rebutted. "We destroy his machine, and find another way to save Sonic. The freedom fighters can handle that, I'm sure."

"Peter," Jules began. His voice was cold, colder than usual. "Eggman is slowly losing his sanity. If he came up with a plan like this, its a sign he isn't playing anymore. The doctor is set and aiming for this goal. He is making this plan his top priority. "

"And then there are the kids, the freedom fighters you wish to rely on. We lost my son, a symbol of hope for the people but also for the freedom fighters. You saw what grief did you your grandchild, now think about what the other freedom fighters are feeling. They cannot fight with a stable mind knowing that their fallen ally is ready to attack them on the battle field. Combine this with Eggman's slow slipping into madness, and the doctor will be ready to sacrifice legionaries, send my son among other on death missions, and he will be plotting to eliminate his threats, especially the freedom fighters, (Y/N) included. If we don't reset this timeline, Eggman will become too large of a threat to handle at some point."

The room was silent beside the quiet humming of a computer. The suspense hung in the air like a heavy weight, collapsing on your lungs. It was hard to breath in the tense atmosphere. Everyone was holding their breath, while your grandfather held his stare on Jules. You knew he was in thought, an intense battle in his brain over good and bad.

Finally, the inventor spoke, "and you are certain you can get the Tails to agree with this as well?"

Charles spoke, "He's been through a lot these past few days, but I believe his grief and anger at Eggman, along with our justified means, will motivate him to help."

Your grandfather paused before answering, "Then I agree with your plan, but I wish to take at least some time planning a way to keep the machine stable. It will be useless to restart the world if the fabric of space-time is ripped to shreds."

Smiles erupted on everyone's face, especially Bernadette's! A hearty chuckle came from Sir Charles, who was relieved to have your grandpa on the team.

Jules lost the cold tone of his voice. "Of course, Mr. Wells."

"Now that we are on the same page, I do believe we need to discuss location," Uncle Chuck began. "We can't stay in the city, as that's where Eggman is most likely to attack. We need a different location to build the reset button at."

"I can agree with you, Charles," you grandfather stated.

"What about old Knothole?" Bernie suggested. "The village is still hidden within the Woodzone on Westside Island. It seems like perfect place to lay low."

"Wonderful idea, my dear!" Jules exclaimed.

"If we bring the Chaos Emeralds with us, would we be easier to track?" you asked.

"Tails, Peter, and I can create something to synthesize Chaos Energy here in the city. We can also build something to block the energy coming from Knothole. This is by us some extra time," Charles reasoned.

"I hope you know, I'm coming, too!!" (B/N) exclaimed. "I'm tired of sitting in the sidelines; I ready for a little taste of action!"

No one objected. She would be a nice helping hand, after all.

"Then that's it! Let's explain our idea to the freedom fighters, get Tails on board, and we can make our way to Westside Island!" you announced.

Finally, it was time to turn the tables!
