You walked down the hallway to the bedrooms. Almost all of the doors were empty, but one stayed shut tight. You took a small peak inside, and you could still see the hedgehog snoozing off and dreaming about who knows what. Seeing Sonic continuing to travel through dreamland put a disappointed frown on your face. You backed out of the room, and continued to walk down the hallway. You facepalmed and sighed in frustration; you were tired of waiting.
You heard small feet patter on the ground behind you. You turned your head to see the adorable T-Pup running up to you. You crouched to the ground and caught the robot in your arms. You felt your metallic friend like your face with a cold, slick tongue. You giggled and hugged the dog even tighter. The small animal ripped silently in delight, making you feel bad range was mute. You decided to give the pup a voice by messing with his settings. You looked below the animal's chin and found a mini dial. By rolling it a couple clicks to the right, you gave T-Pup back his noise. The animal yipped a "thank you" before rubbing up against you.
You loved the cute little creature even though robotic pets triggered an unhappy memory.
You were only ten years old at the time, celebrating a birthday with Friends and family. (B/N) was by your side, wearing a goofy cone-shaped hat on her nose like a beak. You decided to wear yours on your head as you opened your presents one by one. You received colors, clothes, some video games, toys, money, and an amazing bike from your parents. You had only one left, a large box with a sparkly green blue bow. You couldn't wait to see what you would get from your grandpa, and a delicious cake sat for you in the kitchen afterwards.
You pulled the bow off the large box and placed it on your best friend's head. She made some duck poses beside you, making you laugh and giggle. You ripped the polka dotted wrapping paper off the cardboard box. You had a rough time pulling the flaps open due to the overuse of tape, but you mother gave you a pair of scissors. After using them, you out then to the side and carefully opened the present. You awwed at your gift, making people move to look inside.
Inside laid an adorable blue robot with the appearance of a Flicky. It looked at you with large, crystal blue eyes and tweeted a cute melody. You giggled in delight and looked at your grandfather with the biggest smile you could show. He mouthed, "Happy birthday, pumpkin," to you quietly. You smiled even more before looking down at your new pet. It began to sing again, only this time it was interrupted by sparks and annoying buzzing.
It's beautiful blue eyes turned a dark creepy red. Sharp claws popped out of the bird's feet, and it began to flap its wings to fly. Before you could say anything, the flicky machine attacked you, leaving a deep, bleeding scratch on your cheek. People began to scream and grab their kids. (B/N) grabbed you hand and ran to your parents whom were trying to calm the party. Your grandfather was no where to be found, but the bird was still circling its victims.
The machine caught sight of you once again and tried to dive on you. Your father pushed you behind him and grabbed the bird by the head. It continued to squawk at you, sending fear into your soul. Suddenly, your grandfather came to save the day. With the sheet cake in the hands, he smashed the dessert on the bird, shoving it to the ground. It hit the ground with a thud, but before it could get up, your mother stomped on it with her high heel boots. You watched it sparkle and smoke before it shut down for good. Your beautiful present was destroyed, all of the guests had retreated, and your cake was scattered across the floor; talk about a magical fairy princess birthday.
Tears began to swell in your eyes, drawing attention to you. Your mother began to flip about your injury, but you didn't care. Your birthday was ruined, and you wouldn't have another for a while year. You sniffled in a weak attempt to hold back tears, but a few still slithered down you cheek making your wound sting. Your grandfather came in to save the day, though. He crouched down to your height and pet your head before wiping the tears away.
"Why is my little pumpkin crying? I know the gift didn't function as planned but at least you'll be the only one to get a piece of cake," your grandfather said, making you confused.
He walked back into the kitchen and grabbed something that you couldn't see. He hid it behind his back and walked back to you again. He bent down on one knee and bestowed a small piece of cake on a paper plate. You smiled lightly as you accepted the cake. You thanked your grandfather by giving him a hug. The tears were gone, but the wound would require stitches. While you waited for the ambulance to come, you ate cake with (B/N) and your grandfather whom had taken pieces if cake from the floor. Your mother continued to worry and pace across the floor while your father began cleaning the machine parts to keep you safe.
You loved your family. Even though his inventions would fail at times, your grandfather would always set things right. He made your life an adventure. Your mother would always worry about your safety like any good mother. Of course, she was more flexible. After all, she let you be a freedom fighter. Your father was always there to protect you and keep you safe. He may be strict at times, but you wouldn't be the fighter you were today without him. Finally, (B/N) was like a sister to you. She made your life joyful and humorous. You missed all of them terribly.
You sighed out of your flashback and into reality. You had walked around the Sky Patrol halls on auto-pilot. You didn't even recognize where you were at. The hall was bare with a few windows. Doors remained shut as you walked further down. An air duct blew cold air into the hall sending chills down you spine. You were about to turn around when you heard a familiar bark echo further down the hall. Did T-Pup follow you and run ahead while you were daydreaming? You didn't care; the poor creature sounded scared.
You rushed down the hall with your eyes peeled for the robotic animal. Only question was: What on the Sky Patrol could make the adorable T-Pup so terrified?
