You poked your head over some green leaves with a pair of binoculars that helped you observe your enemies in the pitch black. Down below you were a few Egg Army legionnaires leaning against their motorcycles, most likely looking out for trespassers like yourself. Every now and then, a blue streak would speed across different branches, meaning that your enemies weren't very good at their job. Instead, they chuckled and conversed about random topics and stories. You were amazed how they could have so much fun while working with an evil human tyrant.

You didn't have much time to think when you saw the signal. Using the gentle moonlight and his sword, Antoine reflected the light toward you. He was positioned across the way, waiting for Axel the Water Buffalo to appear. This meant it was time to take action. While Sonic would handle the Egg Boss, you and Antoine would distract the other members to keep them off the hedgehog's back. Once the robot was destroyed and the Chaos Emerald was in hand, everyone would make their great escape. Simple plan right?

You jumped into the air, and onto a lower branch. The landing made a few leaves scatter and fall off the Holy Tree, but you weren't too worried about your cover being blown. After a few more leaps and skips, you reached the motorcycle heads. You decided to make a shocking entrance, and you gently hopped down onto one of the leather seats. With shocked faces, the enemies stared at you as you crossed your legs and looked at your nails, trying to give off a bit of attitude.

"What do you think your doing here?" one of the guards rudely questioned with a rough voice. "This land belongs to the Great Dr. Eggman."

"Great? Great at what exactly? Growing hair under the nose instead of at the top?" you sassed, raking your fingers through your hair.

"Why I ought 'a!!" Another guard began as he balled his hand into a fist, ready to punch you in the face.

You didn't twitch, though; You didn't have to. A strong blade interrupted the guards attack, probably giving him dark purple bruises on his knuckles. Antoine stood in front of you, protecting you with his sword. A confident smirk laid on his face, mostly because the guard was struggling to hold back a cry of unexpected pain.

"I believe zat hitting a girl shows ze poor manners, don't you agree, (Y/N)?" Antoine asked as he lowered his weapon and stood in a study fighting stance.

You slipped off the motorcycle and stood in a similar stance, holding out your own special weapon. "Definitely, maybe we need to teach these guys a quick lesson."

"Ha, you two are in for in now," a male rabbit began as he lifted up a communicator. "Wait until I tell our boss, and--"

"GUARDS!!! THE BLUE IMBECILE IS BACK!! BATTLE STATIONS!!" A stong voice cried out over the night air. Sounded like Sonic was doing his part of the plan.

"I should've known. No way would they attack with only two fighters," one of the guards proclaimed while hitting his forehead with his palm. He then pulled out his communicator, probably calling his boss again. "Axel, Sir!! We have two other infiltrators in Sector B!!"

An angry voice cut out through the guard's wrist. "Then hurry up and GET THEM!! I'll handle the hedgehog."

The guards turned back to you and Antoine, seeing that the two of your were up ahead, running along the winding roads in the Holy Tree. They hopped on their cycles, ready to catch up to you in no time flat. Of course, you wouldn't let them catch you so easily. The French Swordsman had punctured their wheels with his sharp blade, giving you guys an advantage. You heard them grunt and call for backup behind you. You guys were already off to a good start, and you two high-fived before continuing your speedy escape.

More engine roars rumbled from behind you, and headlights stunned your eyes if you looked back. It sounded like you had company, but you didn't expect a full party. Up above in the tree branches, other soldiers were shooting their guns at you, forcing the two of you to dodge and swerve to avoid their blasters. The motorheads were beginning to close you guys off, giving you guys less space to escape your shooters. Antoine continued to shove his weapon into their wheels and shove the riders off their rigs. He seemed to be doing more damage than you, meaning that you should be the one to get rid of the tree climbers. After all, you were more of a acrobat than a runner.

Jumping onto the head of a motorcycle with your feet balanced on the small bar between the hand grips, you leaped up and grabbed a tree branch from above. The high speeds allowed you to spin around on the branch before you released your grip and allowed your feet to make contact with the branch. Using your agility, you caught up with the shooters and pulled out your weapon. You figured the best way would be to simply knock them off their feet, making them drop their weapons and lose them in the leaves and branches. Of course, you couldn't help yourself and you may have pulled a few branches and released them into some unsuspecting victims. Their faces always made you giggle and laugh.

The road began to twist upwards, meaning that you had to climb up in order to stay with your partner. At least the guards were beginning to shrink in size. They didn't seem to come out as strongly as they used to, and some of the fighers weren't that good at attacking. They must've been getting as many people to help take you guys down as possible, no matter their job or duty in the army. Oh well, it just made it easier on your part. Soon, the shooters stopped coming, and you took a leap of faith down to Antoine, whom was taking care of the last few motorcyclists on his tail.

Finally, it was over. You were panting and sweating, but the adrenaline was still coarsign through your veins. You shared another high-five his the coyote, celebrating your great job. However, you couldn't help but wonder a few things. You hadn't seen Sonic ever since you took action, and you guys had been fighting for so long that you had taken care of every soldier with minimum weapons training. Were the other teams having trouble with their missions? They certainly had been taking their time.

"GET BACK HERE YOU MISERABLE RODENT!!" A familiar voice screamed. Well, at least you knew where Sonic was.

Antoine pulled you away from the middle of the road as a Blue Blur came rushing by followed by a tall buffalo in a strange machine. Axel must've been so focused on his fight that he failed to notice the two pedestrians at the side of the road. You chuckled with the swordsman as the two continued their fight up through the beautiful Holy Tree. Their fight seemed to die away in the distance, but something else seemed to be getting closer.

You turned back to see Bunnie and Amy, the two that were supposed to be taking care of the robot. Obviously, the blue, metallic robot hot on their trail didn't look "taken care of." The Rabbot would turn back every now and then to shoot at the machine, but it didn't even slow down. That was when you noticed Sally, Rotor, and Nicole behind the robotic weapon. They had been sent to get the Chaos Emerald if you were correct, but why had the teams joined together unless....

The first two girls passed by you at intense speed, trying to keep their foe focused on them. Of course, the robot noticed you and Antoine anyways, but instead of making you a target, it decided to try and claw you as it sped by. You pulled the coyote back as the sharp steel grazed your chest, only ripping through your clothes. It continued on to pursue Bunnie and Amy, leaving you and everyone else in the dust.

Sally ran up to you, concern spread across her face. "Are you two alright? Metal Sonic isn't an easy foe to deal with, especially now."

"I don't understand," Antoine said. "Where is ze emerald?"

"I'm afraid that's the problem," Nicole began. "Metal Sonic has the Chaos Emerald already inside of him. His target isn't Bunnie or Amy, but Sonic."
