Three days had passed, and over those three days Peridot had been experiencing the weirdest feelings. Every time Lapis spoke Peridot got this funny feeling in her stomach. If only she had her tape recorder right now, the small gem really needed to put these feelings into words.
Lapis, over the three days, noticed Peridot acting pretty odd. Whenever the green gem spoke to her she'd stutter and blush. This confused Lapis.
Today was a nice day, Lapis was in the pond and Peridot was leaned against the barn. "Peridot come in! The water is nice!" Lapis called, looking at the green gem. "I'd rather not, last time I got in there my hair was a disaster." Peridot replied, watching Lapis swim around.
"Aw please Peri." Lapis begged. "No thank you. I'd rather watch." Peridot said, shaking her head. "Okay.." Lapis sighed, going under.
Peridot watched Lapis, she waited for Lapis to come back up and splash her. The small gem watched as Lapis resurfaced, smiling. Peridot stood still, returning a small smile.
Lapis then splashed Peridot, soaking her. Peridot groaned and brushed her hair out of her face. "Yep, my calculations were correct, you were going to splash me." The green gem said.
Lapis giggled, "You knew?" She asked. Peridot nodded, "It was kind of obvious." The green gem said. Lapis smiled and got out of the pond, waking towards Peridot.
Lapis stood in front of Peridot, a big smirk on her face. "What?" Peridot asked, looking up at Lapis. The ocean gem picked Peridot up and slung her over her shoulder.
"L-Lazuli no! Put me down! I don't want to get in!" Peridot exclaimed, flailing her arms rapidly. Lapis giggled and put her hands on Peridot's butt. "Keep your touch stumps to themselves!" Peridot yelled.
"I have to carry you some way." Lapis said, stopping. The blue gem looked down in the pond, "Get ready Peri, we're jumping in!" She exclaimed. "No Lazuli what?!" Peridot shouted, she was cut off as Lapis jumped in.
Peridot felt the water wash over her, and she resurfaced. The small gem saw Lapis resurfacing as well. "Lazuli you clod! Now my hair is ruined!" Peridot yelled.
Lapis laughed and swam over to Peridot. "I can fix it." She smiled. Peridot rolled her green eyes, "Well you're gonna have to now." She said.
"Don't get upset Peri, look at my hair." Lapis chuckled, gesturing to her blue hair. Peridot looked, it was pretty messy. Lapis smiled and grabbed Peridot.
"What are you doing now Lazuli?" Peridot asked. "Nothing, just hugging you that's all." Lapis said, squeezing Peridot lightly. Peridot hugged her back, face heating up.
"Can we please get out now?" Peridot asked, shivering. Lapis giggled softly and nodded, "Okay." She whispered. The two gems got out together, heading into the barn.
"We still need to fix that." Peridot said, pointing to the giant hole in the wall. Lapis nodded, "You need to fix it." The blue gem chuckled. "I'm not getting any help from Lazuli?" Peridot asked.
"I was joking, I'll help you." Lapis smiled, looking down at Peridot. Peridot blushed, "I-I knew that... I was just... testing you." The little gem said. "Testing hm? Did I pass?" Lapis asked, smirking.
"Yes." Peridot replied, a tiny smile forming on her lips. "Good." Lapis smiled, holding Peridot's hand. Peridot watched as she intertwined her fingers with Lapis'.
"So uh, are you gonna fix my hair?" Peridot asked awkwardly. "Oh, yeah I forgot!" Lapis said, grinning at Peridot. "Well hurry up and get it over with, and remember, I only want the same thing. Nothing different." Peridot said.
"Okay, okay. Let's go up on the couch." Lapis replied. "Alright." Peridot said, climbing up the ladder. Lapis followed, smiling.
Peridot took a seat on the couch, waiting for Lapis. The ocean gem sat behind her, pulling Peridot closer. The little gem was now sitting right between Lapis' legs, not facing her. Lapis began to fix Peridot's hair, humming.
Peridot blushed, listening to Lapis hum. "Y-You can sing if you'd like.." The green gem said, twiddling her thumbs. Lapis chuckled, "Okay."
Peridot closed her eyes as Lapis fixed her hair. The blue gem continued humming, which disappointed Peridot. Peridot really wanted Lapis to sing.
Lapis shaped Peridot's hair, humming louder now. Peridot looked at Lapis' bare feet, which were in front of her. "Don't you ever get sick of being bare foot?" Peridot asked.
"No." Lapis answered, running her fingers through Peridot's hair. "Interesting.." Peridot muttered. Lapis continued, not carrying on the conversation.
Peridot looked at the TV, it was off. "I guess I should've turned the entertainment box on when we got up here." The little gem said, pointing to the TV. Lapis nodded, "I can turn it on if you want." The blue gem said.
"Oh um.. alright." Peridot said. Lapis reached for the remote and turned the TV on, then returned to fixing Peridot's hair. "Thank you." Peridot smiled.
"No problem." Lapis replied, smiling back. Peridot closed her eyes, relaxing. The little gem longed for the sound of Lapis' voice, it was so soothing.
"Lazuli?" Peridot asked suddenly. "Yes Peridot?" The water gem asked, focused on Peridot's hair. "Could you uh.... you know?" The green gem said, opening her eyes and making hand gestures.
"No, I don't know." Lapis giggled. Peridot groaned, "C-could you sing for me?" Peridot asked, a light blush settling on her face. "Um... I guess. Why do you want to hear me sing?" Lapis then asked.
"I-I don't know! I just do.." Peridot said, getting a little defensive. "Well, I wanna hear you sing too. You never sing." Lapis replied coolly. "That's because.. because...." Peridot trailed off.
"Because what Peridot?" Lapis asked, finishing Peridot's hair. "Because my voice isn't appealing as yours.. your voice is.. soothing.. it's nice." The small gem said quietly. Lapis felt her face heat up, "Thanks Peri..." She smiled.
Peridot nodded, embarrassed. "I'm done.." Lapis said, feeling herself blush. "O-okay. Thanks Lazuli." Peridot said, feeling her heated green face. Lapis chuckled and wrapped her arms around Peridot's torso, pulling her close.
Peridot said nothing, she just blushed. Lapis then wrapped her legs around Peridot, who was now blushing like crazy. "Peridot, I'm tired." Lapis whined.
"Well, you haven't gotten much sleep, that's probably why." Peridot said. Lapis sighed and buried her face in Peridot's hair. Peridot closed her eyes, "I suppose you're going to take this opportunity to sleep now." The green gem chuckled.
"Correct." Lapis replied, voice muffled. Peridot smiled and sighed. "Your hair is basically a big fluffy pillow." Lapis said.
"My hair is not a pillow." Peridot replied. "Well for now it is." Lapis declared. "Only for Lazuli." Peridot said, smiling.
"Peripillow." Lapis giggled, snuggling Peridot. "Don't call me that." Peridot said. "It's cute." Lapis giggled, burying her face deeper into Peridot's hair.
"Just like you." Lapis added, causing Peridot to roll her eyes. "I'm not cute Lazuli, we've been over this." The little gem grumbled. "It's a compliment remember?" Lapis asked, and even though Peridot couldn't see her face she knew Lapis was smirking.
"Y-yes." Peridot said quietly. Lapis chuckled and held Peridot close. "I'm going to sleep." The blue gem said.
"Okay, have a good sleep." Peridot replied. "I think I might sleep too." The green gem mumbled, yawning. Peridot relaxed and soon fell asleep in Lapis' arms.
Neither of them moved a muscle.
