Five days had passed. Five days of endless pain in Lapis' gem, five days of Lapis complaining. Five days of Lapis being extremely lazy, five days of Lapis and Peridot worrying.
Neither Peridot or Lapis knew what was happening, but it was enough to drive the both of them insane. Peridot was trying her hardest to figure this out, but she just couldn't.
Today Lapis was laying on the mattress, Peridot sitting next to her. "So what's the matter today?" Peridot asked, looking down at the blue gem. "My gem hurts, if that isn't obvious. And I feel hot, like really hot." Lapis said.
"Hmm... just yesterday your temperature was fine." Peridot said, confused. "Well now it's not." Lapis said, growing annoyed with all of this. "Let me see your gem, and where is the pain in it coming from?" Peridot asked.
"Today it's just coming from my gem, not around it." Lapis replied, rolling over. Peridot looked at Lapis' gem, shaking her head. "Your gem hasn't changed since all of this happened. It hasn't changed a bit." Peridot said.
"Ugh! It's so hot in here!" Lapis exclaimed, sitting up. "It's actually the average temperature outside right-" Peridot was cut off by Lapis. "I don't care, I need cold air!" Lapis yelled.
"But Lazuli at this time of day the air is cool, you shouldn't feel hot." Peridot said, ignoring Lapis' outburst. "Well it's not cool for me." Lapis said, frowning. "I have no way of providing you the cool air you want." Peridot replied.
Lapis groaned and put her face in her hands. "Stupid gem, stupid hot air!" The blue gem shouted. "You should probably calm down, getting angry like this may cause your temperature to rise." Peridot said.
Lapis shot an angry look at Peridot, making the green gem smile awkwardly. "I was just trying to help you out." Peridot said, blushing. Lapis looked at the small gem for a moment, then lay her head in Peridot's lap.
"I just want this to stop." Lapis said, voice hushed. "You and me both." Peridot said, petting Lapis' hair. "I wish we knew what was going on." Lapis said.
"Yeah.." Peridot said, looking down at Lapis. She really did look miserable, and she had been rather lazy lately. Peridot couldn't get her to do anything.
"My gem.." Lapis whined, balling her fists. "I know.." Peridot said, trying to calm Lapis. "It hurts." Lapis continued to whine.
"I know." Peridot repeated. "And its so hot in here, I'm gonna die." Lapis complained, rubbing her eyes. "You're not going to die." Peridot chuckled.
"I just want to know what's happening to me!" Lapis exclaimed, wincing at the pain in her gem. Peridot sighed and shook her head, "I wish I could tell you." The green gem said. "Me too." Lapis replied.
"I don't know if I can handle any more of this." Lapis groaned. "You can, and I know you can because you're strong." Peridot smiled. "I'm also hot and in pain." Lapis said, rolling her eyes.
Peridot chuckled and shook her head. "Maybe if I massage your gem it might feel better." The green gem suggested. "You can try." Lapis said, sitting up so her back was facing Peridot.
Peridot gently massaged Lapis' gem, making her wince a little bit. "Does it hurt? Do you want me to stop?" The green gem asked. "No, it doesn't hurt that bad." Lapis said, blushing.
Peridot studied Lapis' gem as she continued to massage it. It looked fine, there was nothing wrong with it. "Ow Peri, you can stop now." Lapis said, face heating up.
"O-oh yes, sorry." Peridot apologized as Lapis lay her head back in her lap. "I just want to relax, I don't think I can leave this mattress." Lapis chuckled. "You won't have to." Peridot smiled.
"Good, I didn't plan to." Lapis giggled. Peridot laughed and ran her green fingers through Lapis' blue hair. The green gem liked how the colors looked together.
Lapis smiled, she liked when Peridot petted her hair. The ocean gem closed her eyes, trying to forget the pain coming from her gem. "Hey, I didn't say you could fall asleep on me." Peridot chuckled.
"I know, I know. I'm awake." Lapis said, grinning. Peridot smiled, looking down at Lapis. "Hey uh Lazuli?" The little gem asked.
"Yes?" Lapis said, her eyes still closed. "I just wanted to tell you that you look... very attractive right now. I mean you look very attractive all the time but right now-" Peridot blushed as Lapis cut her off. "Oh Peri, you're so cute. I love you." Lapis smiled, cuddling closer to the green gem.
"I'm not cute, and I love you too." Peridot said, her blush darkening. They stayed like that for a while, a silence had settled over them.
"Ow!" Lapis suddenly yelled, jolting up. "W-what is it?!" Peridot asked, eyes widening. "My gem really hurts." Lapis said, closing her eyes tightly.
"I-It'll be okay.." Peridot said, placing a hand on Lapis' shoulder. Lapis flinched at the touch, moving away. "Don't do that, even that hurts!" The blue gem said.
"Sorry, sorry." Peridot said, moving her hand. "It's fine.. ouch..." Lapis said quietly. "What on earth is going on with you?" Peridot asked, feeling very worried.
"I-I don't know, but I hate it! I just want it to go away!" Lapis exclaimed. Peridot sighed, how long was this going to last?! "Do you still feel hot?" The little gem asked.
"Yes." Lapis nodded, laying her head in Peridot's lap again. "Maybe you should try and sleep, you need rest." Peridot said. "Okay." Lapis said, almost in a whisper.
Peridot watched as Lapis closed her eyes. The water gem soon fell asleep, cuddled close to Peridot. The green gem looked down at Lapis, a small frown on her face.
"I sure do hope this gets better soon."
