Maurice

Okay you can do this. This is simple. Just take her to meet your parents, Maybe eat a little depending on what's been cooked. After all is done just leave and don't mention anything else. Try not to ruin this Maurice try not to.

I knocked on her door and took a deep breath. This can't be hard. This should be easy I mean yes my family is bad but I'm use to that unbearable pain they bring me.

Faith however I worry for.

"Hey" She smiled while hugging me and I kissed her cheek.

Damn she looks amazing.

"Damn you look amazing"

She laughed. "Thank you, You look great"

"Well I sort of had no choice considering this is life or death for me" I said seriously. This isn't something I am glad about.

"I'm sure it won't be that bad" She laughed.

* * *

"Alright, You're right" Faith said as we sat in the living room while others were talking all sophisticated and what not.

"Ah Faith darling it's so great to finally meet you" My mother greeted and Faith extended her hand. It's sad we've been here an hour and so far I haven't seen my mother or father at all. God knows what they were doing and here she comes and no sign of that abusive ruler.

"Likewise, Wow you look exactly like your son, Or the other way around"

"Yes well my genes must be strong. You are so beautiful I wonder why I haven't met you before" She asked eyeing me.

She's dumb.

Like she didn't ask me to find a girl who's wealthy in the matter of a day.

"Well now that we're all acquainted we should be going" I said standing up and faith looked at me confused.

"Is my son leaving before seeing me?" My father asked and my breathing hitched. The devil has returned to his castle.

"Well say something boy I've missed you greatly"

My face slowly became straight and my face turned hot making faith grab me.

"Is this Faith? Wow she's so gorgeous" He smiled and tried to kiss her hand but I pulled how out the way making him look at me.

"Well I'm waiting for my greeting"

"You won't get it from me" I said seriously.

"Don't disrespect your father now Maurice"

I closed my eyes to calm myself down. Since I was Little my mother tried to raise me to be mature and sophisticated so I wouldn't hate my father, As long as I had wealth and power it would bring me happiness. That's what she swore would happen. Then after my life of traveling started I found out he got arrested for illegal withdrawal of my aunt Laurie's bank account.

Now he's here. The Man who has done nothing but try and prevent my whole family from happiness. The Man who I woke up in the middle of the night seeing slap my mother to the ground like it was nothing wrong. The Man who threw me in a basement and told me I was no man and no son of his. The same Man who. Who dressed me up as a girl because he thought that's how I acted then dropped me off at private school only to be ridiculed and humiliated by everyone.

This isn't my father this is the devil.

I opened my eyes and faith looked at me shocked. My once white eyes are now red. All the pain came rushing back in a heart back.

"Baby"

"I'm going to go" I said quietly as I walked past them and went outside.

Faith

I stood there speechless and confused. I can't believe he just broke down like that. Especially in front of his parents. I understand he said they did something to him but he never explained to me the full story but I know it must be serious.

"I'm going to go after him" I said about to walk past them.

"That boy, He didn't change, The only thing he focuses on is having fun or pranking people. He doesn't act his age" His mother said and I turned around.

"Have you ever thought the way he acts is helping him cope with everything?"

"Cope with what? Being a disgrace to the Mitchell family? Well partying won't exactly help that" His father laughed.

"You Two, What type of parents are you? I admit that when I first met him. I thought he was immature and didn't care very much about his future. But I actually care about him." I said and they looked at me bored. I see where Maurice got that dull face expression.

"This isn't some movie Ms. Gonzalez, Your speech is meaningless"

I opened my mouth to speak but was interrupted.

"Is this?" Maurice asked and I turned around seeing him holding a gold vase"

"Maurice honey put that down" His mom said trying to take it from him.

He threw it up and down. "You know, This was the very first thing you bought when you published your first poem. Damn. This is the vase I passed by every time I was dragged into the basement." He said and you could hear him about to cry in his voice.

"Maurice listen!" His father yelled and by now everyone was looking at us.

"No! I won't listen because I realized the only way for all my pain to be truly over I will have to break what means a lot to you people"

"No" His mother said and Maurice dropped the vase. Like slow motion it slowly flew in the air as his parents tried to dive for it. Within seconds it fell on the floor crashing.

"I'm leaving" He said and grabbed my hand. People looked at us disapproving as we walked out of the Mansion.

"You really did that" I said looking up at him.

"What would you have done?" He asked while tilting his head at me.

I said nothing. What would anyone have done after that?

I just need my bed and I want to crawl in a ball then fall into deep sleep.
