Chapter |19|: These Fireworks don't explain my anger

"Wow I love your hair" This girl said while walking up to me as I ate my pizza.

"Thank you, I haven't seen you around" I said while putting the plate down.

"Oh" She laughed. "I'm here visiting someone right now"

"Oh really? Wow whoever it is sure is lucky. You're beautiful"

She laughed. "Me? You are too. You have a baby face"

"No I'm only Nineteen that explains it"

"Nineteen" She said lifting her eyebrows and relaxing them.

"Yeah, I'm Faith" I said extending my hand for her to shake and she gladly shook it.

"I'm Hailey"

"My boyfriend and friend are probably by the Car, Hey you want to meet them? I mean you seem lonely"

"Yeah, The person I'm visiting is nowhere to be found so mind as well make new friends"

I smiled. "Perfect"

Maurice

"You're absolutely crazy" Zach protested the more I pushed on the topic of if he dated Faith.

"Not necessarily. I'm just throwing if's around. You like her and I still have to handle business with Hailey"

"She's not a professor at Harvard Maurice, When you two broke up the entire life you two had was over"

"Not over. On a break"

He shook his head. "You're unbelievable right now"

"I'm just coming up with a plan, What if a scenario happens when they talk or meet? My life is officially over then"

"Well, There's the scenario" He said pointing at Faith and Hailey who was walking our direction. Faith was waving while Hailey smirked at me.

My mouth become dry and I looked at Zach who was leaning back smoking his cigar not paying attention to my hopeless face expression.

"Hey guys, This is-"

"Maurice Mitchell, If it isn't you" Hailey said and faith looked at us confused.

"You two know each other?"

"Oh honey this story gets even better" Zach smiled and faith crossed her arms.

"Well then, Tell me the story"

Hailey looked at Maurice and I and laughed. "You've got to be kidding me. You're dating him?"

"Yes I am, Problem?"

"Oh no there most certainly is not a problem, You know when I stopped by your house and your parents explained how some young, Not my words don't get offended" She said looking at Faith. "Tramp just swooped in and influenced you. Didn't think it would be her"

"Maybe you should go"

"Tramp? How do you two even know each other because that question is still unanswered"

"This is my ex boyfriend and you sweetie are the reason we broke up"

"No you are not, Hailey stop"

"I don't think I should, You see. The first day you all met I was the one who dated Maurice and when I seen him talking to you we broke up because I didn't like you. But Maurice called me a week ago drunk saying he loved me and wasn't happy. Now he's got a girlfriend and wants to forget? That's fine though because Zach made me feel better" She smirked and I looked at my best friend who's cigar was now hanging out his mouth as his hands rested behind his head and he looked at Hailey with hate in his eyes.

"How did you do that Zach?" I asked and he looked at us then sat up taking the cigar out of his mouth.

"Uhm. I just talked her through it and told her it would be totally fine, Right Hailey?" He asked looking at her and she tilted her head.

"No that isn't what happened"

"Hailey please" He practically begged and she ignored him.

"Zach and I spent the hours drinking until eventually-"

"Hailey"

"We slept together"

"Fuck" He cursed and I shook my head trying to process what she said.

"You slept with my ex less than an hour after we broke up?"

"I didn't intend on it, I swear. It just happened honestly"

"Why did you even go see her!? You were supposed to be there for me!" I yelled and he sighed.

"I know that and I just. I felt bad for her and it happened"

"You felt bad enough to sleep with her? Yeah you're definitely best friend material"

Hailey laughed and Zach narrowed his eyes at her. "Is this why you showed up? To start drama because you're bitter that Maurice left you? Get over it"

"No I came here because of you Zach, You told me you had feelings for me"

"Well I don't!" He yelled and it got quiet as all eyes were on him. Zach isn't exactly known for yelling since he's always the fun and easy going type but as of right now he was fuming.

"You don't mean that"

"I do! Damn, It was a good night until you showed up, I never had feelings for you Hailey never! No I don't like you. I wanted to get laid and that's what I did. You Happy now!?" He yelled while jumping off of the hood.

It was quite and Hailey looked at him with tears in her eyes.

"Zach" She mumbled trying to touch him and he moved out of the way.

"Get out of here and don't ever come back, You ruined everything" He said with venom in his voice. She looked at me and I looked in her eyes before she dropped her gaze and walked away leaving the three of us.

"Maurice. I'm so sorry about what happened I-"

"You wanted to talk about maturity?" I asked not even looking at him. "You slept with my ex and now you have a crush on my girlfriend. Mature doesn't explain you."

"Maurice-"

"We're no longer best friends or friends. Stay away from me"

He punched something I figured because I heard glass break and then he was gone leaving faith and I.

It was quite and I stared at her waiting for something to come out. She shook her head and tried to walk away but I grabbed her arm.

"Faith please"

"You. Was I a rebound or something?" She asked not looking at me.

"No. No you aren't. You're amazing I wanted you"

"Did you really want me? Do you still love that girl?"

I closed my eyes and sighed and she smiled.

"I figured. I Just want to get done with this internship and I don't want to see you again"

"Faith" I said and she walked away not saying anything to me.

I closed my eyes and rested my head in my hands as the fireworks started going off.
