"Wait, what?!" Chandler exclaims as I buckle my seatbelt.

"Can I still get the audition?" I repeat.

"Uh... yeah, yeah! Sure!" He says, pulling something out of the glove box. I scoot back to allow him room and he plops a couple of papers that are stapled together on my lap. The cover of the papers reads:

THE WALKING DEAD
AUDITION SCRIPT

"You've had this here all this time?" I question, skimming through the papers.

"Uh... yeah," Chandler mumbles, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Don't be embarrassed. I'm glad you have it. What character am I auditioning for anyway?" I ask as Chandler pulls away.

"I'm not allowed to say, but- Wait, was I supposed to drive away? Do you need to go back?" Chandler asks frantically.

"Nope. I quit." I say proudly, a smile plastered to my face.

"Why?" Chandler yells, looking at me with huge eyes.

"Keep your eyes on the road!" I exclaim, pointing ahead before he runs a red light.

"Shit!" Chandler shouts, slamming on his breaks. I put my hand on the dash to stop myself from flying forward.

Chandler's arm flies in front of me in a protective way. "Are you okay?" He pants.

"I'm fine." I chuckle slightly at his concern and he removes his arm and drives forward when the light turns green. "And I quit because they were being stupid and I didn't feel like dealing with their shit anymore."

Chandler nods his head, "The audition's tomorrow by the way."

"Tomorrow?! That's not enough time!" I exclaim as I begin to read through the script frantically.

"Better get to memorizing then."

The next day

"I know you're gonna nail this audition!" Lizzy states, turning around in the front seat.

"Ugh thanks. I'm so nervous." I say. My heart is beating a thousand miles an hour and I've broken into a nervous sweat.

"Don't puke." Lizzy's mom warns.

"No, mom. Savanna thought that might be a good thing to do." Lizzy says sarcastically.

I force a smile and take a deep breath, "okay, wish me luck."

"Good luck!" Lizzy's mom sings.

"Go in there, nail that audition, get the part, and tell me who Negan killed!" Lizzy orders as I get out of the car. I roll my eyes and walk into the building.

There's a lady sitting in a booth by the door. I give her my name and she tells me to wait in line. The line is huge, but while I'm waiting, I practice my lines some more. The audition script that Chandler gave me has nothing to do with The Walking Dead or the apocalypse in general. It's about a girl who has cancer being verbally abused by her father. It's only a few lines long. There's a part where I'm supposed to cry and I haven't gotten myself to be able to force tears yet, but I'm working on it.
