(A/N): Lydia's outfit^
if you haven't read The Walking Dead comics don't get mad at me for spoilers or anything okay?? Just a warning."Slow to a stop!" I scream at Lizzy as she slams on the breaks.
"Don't yell at me!" She screams back, panting heavily. We got up bright and early this morning so Lizzy could get her permit on her birthday.
"You almost gave me a heart attack," I whisper, unbuckling my seatbelt.
"Are you okay?" She giggles as I snatch my purse from the floorboard.
"I am all good because I'm about to film my first episode of The Walking Dead!" I scream. Lizzy squeals excitedly, bouncing up and down in the driver's seat.
"And I know you'll do great because it's my birthday, so I've shed good luck on you." She smiles as I get out of her car.
"Please don't get pulled over Lizzy. You only have your permit and you're not supposed to even be driving alone." I warn.
"I'm not gonna get pulled over," she mumbles.
"Okay. Happy birthday! Have fun with Sam tonight." I sing, making kissy faces.
Lizzy rolls her eyes and speeds out of the parking lot. I say a silent prayer and walk to the gate. I have to flash my badge so they know to let me in and I feel all professional. Chandler meets me at the gate and shows me to my trailer. He's all dressed up in his Carl outfit with blood all over his face and gauze on his eye. He looks so cute.
"It's right between my trailer and Katelyn's," Chandler says, pointing to a large white trailer. "Wardrobe should be ready. I'm not sure about hair and makeup."
I nod and walk into the trailer. There's an outfit laying on the couch with a piece of paper attached that reads: LYDIA.
"Alright." I mumble, putting on the outfit.
As I'm finishing up tying my shoes, there's a knock on the door. I answer it and a woman smiles at me. She has an apron on, so I assume she's either hair or makeup.
"You must be Savanna. Can I come in?" She asks, gesturing inside.
"Oh! Uh... yes. Come in." I studder, awkwardly stepping to the side. She steps into my trailer and immediately starts setting up her makeup on the counter.
"Could you sit down here?" She asks, patting the chair in front of the mirror.
"Of course. Yeah," I stammer, shuffling over to the chair. I take a seat and she immediately goes to work doing my makeup.
"I'm Daisy by the way," she tells me, still focusing on my makeup.
"Hi Daisy," I whisper, trying my best to keep my face still.
After Daisy finishes my hair and makeup, she lets me look in the mirror. My face doesn't have any major work done to it. Just some dirt and fake blood splattered here and there. Daisy, who luckily is black and knows how to do African hair, left my hair natural and curly.
"All good?" She asks, staring at me in the mirror.
"Perfect. Do I have to put on a skin mask like in the comics or..." I trail off, remembering Lydia's first appearance in the comic book where she had on a mask made out of walker skin.
"Yes, but I think Greg might want to see you first. Just to make sure everything fits right." Daisy informs me as she packs up her things.
I nod and follow her out the door to a another trailer. She tells me that Greg is probably inside, but if not to just wait for him. I thank her and go inside.
"Hey Savanna," Greg Nicotero says, not looking up from his work.
"Hello. Daisy sent me-"
"For the mask?" He finishes.
I nod and he pats the seat next to him. I sit and he begins trying different masks on me. We soon find the perfect mask and I go outside to shoot my first scene.
My nerves could not get worse. I feel like I might throw up, but puking and this mask would not be a good combination. I don't even know why I'm so nervous. I only have one line in this episode.
"Ready Savanna?" Scott asks. I nod and he yells, "action!"
(This is gonna be slightly different from the graphic novel suck my dick bitches)
I grip the fake knife in my hand and slowly move forward in sync with the walker extras. The horse neighs. Tom (Jesus) backs away from us as the few extras and I attempt to close in on him.
"Jesus, that ones got a knife!" Someone calls, pointing at me.
Tom sighs, "Just calm-" I swing my knife at Tom, just missing his cheek.
The other actor "kills" the remaining walkers and I allow Tom to tackle me to the ground. He ties me up and throws me onto the back of the horse while I pretend to be unconscious.
"Cut!" Scott yells.
I lift the mask of my face to allow myself some air.
"Great job guys," Scott announces. "We're gonna cut to the scene at the hilltop now. Take five."
I gratefully take my mask off and inhale deeply. It's stuffy in that thing.
~
I continue to be "knocked out" as the horse trots through the gates at the hilltop. I hear Tom yell something about capturing "one of them." He's referring to The Whisperers, the group Lydia belongs to.
Tom lifts me off the horse and throws me over his shoulder. I'm so afraid he's going to drop me, but he doesn't. He takes me to their little prison type thing and ties me up on a chair. I pretend to wake up as Tom snatches my mask off my face.
"What's your name?" He hisses, narrowing his eyes coldly at me.
"Lydia," I state, not breaking eye contact.
"Cut!" Scott yells once again.
"Good job," Tom says in his British accent.
"Thank you," I beam and shake his hand.
"That's it for today. Great work everyone." Scott calls.
I return to my trailer to retrieve my belongings and change out of character before Chandler leaves my ass here.
"Savanna!" Chandler calls from outside my trailer.
I walk out into the pitch black and follow Chandler to his car.
"How was your first day?" Chandler asks as we pull onto the highway.
"It was great actually. I was nervous at first, but I only said one word, so how can I fuck that up, right?" I giggle and Chandler laughs slightly.
"So you know we just finished filming episode eight," Chandler pauses.
I nod my head, telling him to go on.
"And then we film episode nine, the mid-season premier that airs when we return in February..." he trails off, acting like I should just understand what he's talking about, but I'm so confused.
"Yes?" I question, letting him know I'm lost.
"And after that we film episode ten," he puts his blinker on to merge into the left lane.
"That's how numbers work," I mumble sarcastically.
"Yes, but in episode ten, our characters... Lydia and Carl. We have that scene-"
"Stop," I cut him off. "Stop talking." I know very well what scene he's referring to and I'm trying my best not to think about it.
"I'm just saying there's no avoiding it," he chuckles.
Where's a bottle of bleach when you need it? I think to myself and we drive the rest of the way home in awkward silence.
