Chapter 37

It's finally the summer holidays and everyone is gathered at the Burrow. Our wedding was supposed to be during the winter holidays but we decided against it. It was way too stressful to set up a wedding in only a month!

However, during the school year, Dumbledore was killed by none other than Severus Snape, at least that's what Harry said.

The last day of the school year, everyone went to Hogwarts and bid the Headmaster a final goodbye. And now a few weeks after school ended, here we are!

I'm in my wedding dress, getting my makeup done by Hadley and Ginny. It was the most important day of my life!

Before I got in the dress and everyone else was getting ready, Fred and I hid away from everyone and I vented everything to him. I was missing my mother, father, and sister. Sirius was supposed to walk me down the aisle... My sister was supposed to be standing next to me at the altar as my maid of honor. My mother was going to sit in the crowd and cry her eyes out because her baby was growing up.

They would never get to see this special day...

Looking back at the memory that took place only a couple of hours ago, my eyes became watery and I almost messed up the makeup that Hadley and Ginny worked so hard on.

Wiping my eyes, making sure not to mess up my makeup, I grabbed the bouquet of flowers and looked one last time in the mirror that was hanging on the wall. Smiling at the reflection, I didn't look anything like me.

The girl in the mirror was strong, beautiful, sophisticated, and radiant. Meanwhile I was broken, fragile, afraid, and alone. Looking around the small room filled with everyone except for Fred, I realized that I wasn't alone and I could be happy in this family.

Not paying attention, I didn't notice Mr. Weasley come up to me and hold his arm out for me.

Smiling up at him I took his arm and watched everyone get into position. Everyone except for the bridesmaids went outside and took their seats.

Taking one last glance at the small room, I looked up at Mr. Weasley to see him smiling down at me.

"Delilah, you are very special to Fred and it's great to see him so affectionate. He's never been one to show his feelings. When you lost everything, I saw not just you crumble but Fred as well. That was the moment I knew that you two truly loved each other. I wasn't surprised when he proposed not long after! I hope you live happily in the Weasley family."

Giving Mr. Weasley a small peck on the cheek I heard the music playing and we started walking. I looked down the aisle and saw the love of my life ahead of me.

Smiling softly, tears of joy leaked out of my eyes. I was going to marry the man of my dreams!

Stopping at the altar, Mr. Weasley left and took his seat next to Mrs. Weasley. I looked at Fred and grabbed his sweaty hands. Looking down at his shaking hands, I looked back up at his face and gave a small smirk. Turning my head to the priest right after, Fred was looking at me in shock.

The priest talked on and on for what felt like hours but was only a few minutes. After a long wait, he got to the good part.

"You may now exchange your vows..."

I started first.

"Fred, I've taken you for granted my entire life. I'm sorry for that. It took me forever to realize I loved you! In fact it took a Slytherin asshole, an ex-best friend, and my heartbreak to realize it. By the way, excuse me for my French!

The night you stayed with me and let me cry in your shoulder was the moment I thought of you as more than a friend. I don't know how I never noticed my feelings that were wishing to come out... It must've been an eternity for you!

But either way, you've been with me when my mother, sister, and father were all murdered... The nights you stayed up with me were the best nights of my life. I would never take back my past and exchange it for something else.

Sure I wish my family were here, but who knows how things would've ended up if they were still alive...

Fred Weasley... I love you!"

Next was Fred's turn.

"Now this is a crappy vow so I hope it suits your fancy.

The first time I realized I loved you was in our second year. We were best friends and I spent every second with you... But so did my brother so I don't know how he doesn't love you...

Either way, I realized I loved you on a special day. It wasn't actually special, we were just sitting at dinner eating. You like always, was stuffing your face with food. You stuffed yourself so much that you couldn't eat your favorite desert... Chocolate pudding!

All I'm saying is that my love for you is pure and true. Our love is like the wind, we can't see it, but we can feel it...

Most people who aren't old and wrinkly in this room, sorry mom, dad, and aunt Muriel, don't understand the quote I just used. I didn't understand when you would whisper it to me until a few days ago when I was writing this vow. You got that quote from your favorite muggle movie, A Walk to Remember.

I completely understand now and of course I am madly in love with you! We are in this relationship together right?"

Taking a small pause I didn't know that I was supposed to answer until all eyes were on me.

Giving a small nod, I answered, "Together."

"Good now that you have answered, I can continue my vow...

Let's just finish this short and sweet, I love you with all of my heart and I hope you feel the same. I love you with all of my heart and soul Delilah Thornberry-Black!"

With those words the priest nodded his head and went on to the last final part of any wedding, muggle or not!

"Mr. Fred Fabian Weasley do you take Delilah Mary Thornberry-Black to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

"I do."

Finally it was my turn...

"Do you Miss Delilah Mary Thornberry-Black take Fred Fabian Weasley to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do..."

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride!"

Fred leaned in and kissed me passionately. This kiss was different from all of the other ones. It held passion and new beginnings. We were going to last forever!

If only of course things worked in our favor...

I finally updated! YAY!
I'm back and ready to keep updating as much as I can! I can't honestly promise anything though! I'm quite busy since marching band is picking up and everything.

But I promise I will update as much as I can.
