A few months living with my grandparents, I started taking notice of my mother being out of the house more. She would be out for hours leaving my grandparents to watch after me, only to come home happy and excited. I've never seen her so happy!
A few weeks later, my mother finally burst into the room and paid attention to me. She picked me up and ran out of the house towards her car. As she strapped me up, she was whispering that she had someone she wanted me to meet. She finally hopped into the drivers seat and we were off.
A couple minutes of driving around, we pulled up outside of a small park. My mother ran around the car to my door and helped me out of my car seat. As she was struggling to undo my seatbelt, I caught sight of my favorite stuffed toy sitting up front. Like always, I started concentrating on the plush toy until it started floating towards me.
Since my mother wasn't paying attention, I took it to my advantage and quickly made my stuffed toy fly into my lap. My mother finally got the seatbelt off and picked me up not noticing my stuffed toy fall to the cement ground.
My mother caught sight of someone far off in the distance and started walking towards them. As she kept walking, I looked over her shoulder at my toy. For the second time that day I concentrated on the toy. It floated into the air and landed in my hands. I let out a giggle and felt a set of eyes on me.
I turned around only to notice a mysterious man watching me. He had a slight knowing smile on his face as he looked at me. Before focusing back on my mother, he winked at me. I giggled and started playing with my toy. My mother sat me down in the bench in between the man and herself. They started talking while I played.
A couple minutes of playing, my mother finally looked down at me and pulled me onto her lap. I looked up at my mother who pointed at the man sitting beside her. She introduced him as David, her boyfriend.
A couple months of going out with both my mother and David, my mother finally went on a date without me.
A couple hours later, my mother came home with the biggest smile and excitement clear on her face. Since I started talking a couple months back, I giggled and said, "Mommy why you so happy?"
She smiled and answered, "Delilah, you're going to have a daddy! David asked me to marry him!"
With that I smiled and hugged my mother around the neck. I couldn't wait to have a full family!
