As the years have gone by, my sister has become an even more pain in my butt, if that's even possible.
I'm now eleven years old with her being nine. Everyday she has gotten me in trouble but I've gotten my revenge every single time as well. So I guess we are equally guilty.
One day, I was eating my lunch when my mother asked me to go get the post. As I walked out towards our mailbox, I noticed something peculiar. An owl sat a top our mailbox. Even though David was a wizard, I knew absolutely nothing about the magic world other than of course the necessities.
After much debating, I finally went up to the mailbox and carefully took the mail before running inside. Along the way, I ran past David who seemed shocked at my scared state.
"Delilah, calm down sweetie! Why are you running and why are you scared?"
"Dad there's an owl sitting on the mailbox!"
With those words I ran inside and slammed the door shut. David opened the door immediately after and smirked.
"Is my little angel scared of an owl?"
"Pfft... No! That would be ironic wouldn't it?"
"Delilah owls are common in the wizarding world so you better get used to it!"
With a grunt I walked back into the kitchen to finish my lunch. My mother took the mail and sorted through it. Upon finding a strange envelope, she squealed in delight and handed it to me.
"David get in here! It's finally happening! She got the letter!"
As soon as the words left my moms lips, David was in the room with Lily by his side. My mother handed the letter to me and told me to open it. Upon opening it, I saw the words Hogwarts.
David mentioned it before as the wizarding school where he learned everything. With a wide grin on my face I tore open the letter and skimmed through it.
After reading it only a few things came out of my mouth, "I was accepted into Hogwarts! Oh my gosh can you believe it? Guess who's going to Hogwarts! Me I am!"
Quickly David and my mother took the letter and put it on the fridge along with the things I needed.
During all of this, their was only one thing that came to my mind, what was I going to tell my friends? I mean they wouldn't believe me. What if I didn't make any new friends at Hogwarts? That would be completely unacceptable!
With those thoughts in my mind I looked towards Lily who was glaring at me. For once the attention was on me. And it felt good!
As the day went by, my excitement didn't deter. Nothing could bring down my mood unless of course Lily.
As I walked into my room, Lily followed behind. She closed my door and finally she cried.
"Don't leave me! I'm gonna be so bored and I won't have anyone to blame for things I did! What will I do with my life?"
"Quit being so dramatic! I'll be back for holidays and stuff. You're acting like you'll never see me again. You'll be like an only child while I'm gone. Won't that be great for you?"
"Yeah! Thanks sis for being a wizard and going to school so I can be an only child!"
"I'm still living I just won't be at home until the holidays and summer breaks."
"Darn it..."
"Lily I will murder you if you don't leave me alone right now!"
"Fine have fun at Hoggywarts! I won't miss you!"
With that Lily left me alone and I was left with my thoughts.
Hogwarts here I come!
