"C'mon Blue, it's alright!" Liam said as he wrapped his arms around me. "Shh! It's okay!"
But I kept sobbing. I stayed crouched down in the corner of Noel's guestroom and just let my tears continue.
"I'm sorry I flipped out on ya." He went on. "I just lost me head 'cuz I didn't know what the fuck was goin' on."
And to be honest, I really didn't know either.
Liam and I went home and spent the rest of the evening in bed. My tears had dried and I felt a lot more relaxed.
We lay on top of the duvet with him resting his hand on my abdomen.
"I think I felt 'er kick!" He said with a grin.
I rolled my eyes. "No you didn't." I replied.
"Yes I did! She's sayin' hello, yeah? The only way she knows how."
I chuckled quietly as he rubbed my stomach.
"Have you made an appointment to see a doctor yet?" He asked.
"No."
He looked at me confused. "Well ya better! Ya need a full work up and that. Get a due date and a scan. And you'll need them antenatal vitamins."
"Yeah." I said quietly. It was a lot to think about.
"I'll go with ya." He told me. "I don't wanna miss it."
I looked at him and smiled a little. It really amazed me how into this he'd become. To say I didn't expect it was an understatement.
He smiled back. "So have ya thought about who's gonna be the godparents? We've gotta get that sorted before she's born. Mam won't like us leavin' her go too long without 'em."
"I suppose Noel and Sara." I said quickly.
"What?!" He exclaimed. "Why-"
"Or Nic and Pia. They're all Catholic so-"
"Noel's not Catholic. He doesn't even-"
"He'll be a good godparent." I cut him off. "Besides, you don't even have to be Catholic to do it necessarily. As long as one person is-"
"Don't I get a say in this?" He asked. "I should get to pick one and you can pick the other. It's only fair."
"Fine." I replied. "Who do you want then?"
He thought for a second. "Our Paul'd be good for it. And he weren't asked for the other kids so I think it'd be nice to see if he wants to. You can pick the godmam."
"Sara then. She's closer to where we live than Pia and she already knows a lot about kids."
"That'll do our Noel's head in." Liam said with a grin. "We pick his missus and not him."
I furrowed my eyebrows at him curiously. "Is that what this is about?" I asked. "Doing our Noel's head in? Not very Christian if you ask me."
"I didn't mean it like that! But ya know he'll say summat. Or he won't and just act all fucked off at us instead."
I shook my head trying to understand his reasoning.
He stroked my stomach from side to side just under my belly button. "You'll start your maternity leave tomorrow, yeah?" He said. "I don't want ya workin' with a baby on the way."
"Okay." I smiled. "Then I won't have to request off for my next interview."
He gave me a puzzled look. "What?"
I nodded. "I'm supposed to go to Paris this week to interview Hushpuppies."
"By yourself?"
"Yeah." I replied. "I'll only be gone a couple days-"
"No." He shook his head. "Absolutely-"
"Liam. I'll be fine."
And I was. I took the Chunnel and had a driver to take me to Paris. My hotel had a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower and wasn't too far from the restaurant where I was to interview the band.
The band consisted of five guys, two of which were brothers. I'd heard of them years before and apparently they were about to release a new album. They appeared to get along better than Liam and Noel but maybe it was all for show or something. I suppose the comparison would never end as long as there were brothers in bands.
I was only staying in Paris for one night before going back to London. I didn't bother going out to see the city in the evening and just went back to my hotel.
I sat out on the balcony gazing at the Eiffel Tower which sparkled with thousands of lights. My mind flooded with all kinds of thoughts as I stared at it.
I knew I had to get back to London to face so many things.
But at that point, it was nice to have a break from it.
Author's Note:
Happy Birthday George Orwell! I'm not his biggest fan but Animal Farm definitely impacted me growing up. I hope you've enjoyed this first update in Book 2. I'm sorry it's a short one but I think I covered everything I wanted to although there could've been more detail. I suppose I can leave that for your imagination. Ha ha! I have some ideas for the coming plot but it still needs ironed out. And I've been trying to come up with another update for Version 2. Maybe more will come tomorrow as well as another update for Madferit: The Novel. Thanks again for reading!
