The studio was pretty relaxed as the boys got their equipment ready. Mark's bass bellowed out a few tuning notes as Chris banged a bit on one of his snare drums. Nic and Cam faced each other tuning their guitars. They looked about ready to do one of their duets.
But I'm sure it wasn't time for one of those yet.
All the boys' girls were there: Pia, Sarah (who belonged to Cam), and Mark's and Chris', although I couldn't remember either of their names. Sarah and Chris' lady left their kids back home. The studio really wasn't a place for children even though Jet had cooled way down since about 2004.
"Those days are long gone." Nic said as we sat together on the lounge chairs while Chris and Mark were working on something together.
"I can see that." I agreed as I typed his words down on my computer.
He smirked a little. "So are ya gonna ask me your questions now or what?"
I nodded as Cam came over and sat down in an empty chair beside him.
"Game of Thrones or Orange is the New Black?"
"Neither. They can both fuck off."
"Lisa or Jessica?"
"They can both fuck off."
"One Direction or Five Seconds of Summer?"
"They can both fuck off as well."
I smirked as I read the next one, trying to keep a giggle from escaping my lips.
"Liam Gallagher or Noel Gallagher?"
Nic and Cam both smirked as well.
"That's a tough one."
"They gave me the list of names to ask." I mumbled. "Fuckin' wankers!"
They started to chuckle.
I smiled and then gathered my composure to continue.
"How did it feel to be asked to play with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Australia?"
The time flew by as I followed the band in and out of the studio. I felt better for a multitude of reasons: I got to hang out with my most favorite band ever; I was writing what would probably be the biggest piece of my journalism career; and I just felt way more happier.
There was a party one night and Nic insisted I go with Pia and buy a new dress. Matt was to have a matching tie as he was going to be my escort for the evening.
I don't know whose party it was. Some friend of a friend I suppose. They fed us dinner beforehand. Sushi. And Anne Marie was there to take pictures of us at the table.
She'd snapped a lot of photos of that time in New York all of which I'm sure she planned to add to her blog. None of them were going to be used for NME though. They had their own photographers for that.
I was sitting at a table listening to Pia and Nic chat with some people, when I saw someone approach me out of the corner of my eyes.
"Would you care to dance?" He asked.
"Sure." I replied with a small nod as I looked up at him.
