"Welcome to the Northwest of England."

They had an American commentator giving his two cents as well.

'Probably from NBC.' I thought as I listened to him banter with the British one. That was the channel I could watch matches on back home usually and it always surprised me when I'd hear an American voice.

Liam's eyes were glued to the big screened TV. His City jersey was completely wrinkle-free. He wouldn't let me press it off for him though.

"It's bad luck if I don't do it me self." He informed me.

They were home against Leicester that day. As the cameras switched to focus on Leicester's main players, I couldn't help picturing that video on Kasabian's Facebook page of all those boys in a pub singing, "Everybody Knows" while shoving their beers and cigarettes into the camera.

But when Silva and Aguero and Toure came back on the screen, my focus switched back to Liam. I stared at him quietly even though I knew he was too wrapped up in the count down to kick off.

I hoped for a win not just because it was City.

But because hopefully the win would counterbalance what I was about to do.

Ninety minutes. Ninety minutes was supposedly all the longer this match would be. American football was broken down into fifteen minute quarters but fuck knows a football game never ended in an hour.

Liam was convinced City would come out on top, two-one but that was always his wager and I suppose he was right sometimes.

But the score didn't matter to me as long as they won. Silva could be benched the whole time as far as I was concerned. As long as those boys helped me out, I didn't care how it got done.

Liam needed this win. His psyche needed this win.

'C'mon, you wankers! Let's have it!' I screamed at the Foxes from inside my head.

I was more scared than they realized but I tried my darndest not to let it show.

"YES!" Liam yelled as he jumped in the air when Aguero scored the first goal. "That's how ya play the fuckin' game!"

I sat clenching my fists as he continued to bounce around. It was going good. Super good.

Thank God!

Final score: three-one...City.

"Liam." I said as he watched the boys walking across the field shaking hands with the opposing team. "Liam."

But he was in his own little world. Whether he could hear me or not, I don't know but I knew I had to change that.

"It's over, Liam. They won. City's still on top."

"It's not over 'til we've seen the highlights." He said shaking his head.

I rolled my eyes.

The TV switched to show the inside of the studio where a man and a woman sat ready to review the match as well as catch us up on the games we missed.

Liam was too distracted and I knew I had to make my move.

"What you doin'?!" He exclaimed when the screen froze. "What-"
