"Jules?" Noel called from the bedroom. "Jules?"
I didn't respond as I folded up the letter and put it back inside the card. I set it down on the coffee table and considered making tea. I could at least put the kettle on and let Noel do the rest. It was easier that way. Any time he attempted to let me make the tea, he hovered and gave me directions for every piddly little thing he could think of involved in the process. It was quite a mither and best avoided at all costs.
But I decided not to bother with the kettle either. I headed back down the hall and figured I'd take a shower instead.
I stopped dead in my tracks when I entered the bedroom. "What the fuck are you doing?!" I shrieked.
Noel gasped and looked up at me clutching the piece of paper. "I was just-"
"What have I told you guys about rifling through my shit?!" I ran over and snatched it from him. "I don't do it to you and I don't have near as many secrets as-"
"Bullshit!" He yelled.
I stared at him feeling the tears start to well.
"Does Our Kid know?"
I glanced away for a second. "N-"
"Don't bullshit me, Jules!" Noel warned pointing at me.
I broke down then. I fell to my knees and sobbed.
"Shh!" He cooed wrapping me in a hug. "It's why ya went off to Australia first instead of Ohio, isn't it?"
I nodded against his chest.
He continued rubbing my back. "Who've ya told?"
"No one. Except for Matt." I replied. "I got sick on Christmas. I passed out...and the next day I lost the baby."
He pushed us apart and looked me right in the eyes. "Jules-"
"I would've told him when the time was right." My tears had finally stopped.
"Or ya would've run off with that Cester kid." He nodded in sarcasm.
I rolled my eyes. "Right."
Noel turned on the TV in the living room and stayed quiet in there. His eyes were glued to the screen and I was glad his mouth was glued shut.
There was still no word from Liam. No Twitter updates. No contacts. No news reports. No tabloid fodder. No sightings. It seemed odd he still wasn't back yet.
I stood in the kitchen and just thought about everything. What Liam was thinking and possibly doing. What Noel was thinking as he sat there stewing silently like he sometimes did. I needed fresh air and I was determined to get it.
The tube was quiet and I was in Kentish Town in no time.
"Shouldn't you be in Como?" I asked when he greeted me at the door.
"Yeah but I should be here as well." He replied. "How can I mind you from a different country?"
I smirked a little and he showed me that famous Cester grin.
"Alright, Gene." I strolled into the entry way. "You can come out now."
A different closet door opened this time.
