"It's your turn to put the kettle on this mornin'." Liam said with a yawn as he stretched a little. "So get to it, yeah?" He rolled over onto his left side pushing his ass into mine.
I got out of bed and went to the kitchen. I got the kettle boiled, fixed Liam's cup, and then took it back to the bedroom. I stroked his cheek to wake him up.
He smiled as he opened his eyes. "Where's yours?" He asked after he sat up and took the cup from me.
"Haven't got time." I replied quickly as I grabbed some stuff out of one of my dresser drawers and threw it into my suitcase.
"Yes ya do! Your flight doesn't leave 'til eleven. C'mon Blue! We always have tea together."
"Yeah but not today."
He protested a little more but eventually realized it was useless. He rode with me to the airport and walked me to enter security.
"A whole week again?" He asked as we stood near the gate.
"Yeah." I told him. "I'm going to Melbourne for a few days. Helen invited me to dinner."
"Who?"
"Nic and them's mom. She makes a good pavlova."
He looked away furrowing his eyebrows in thought.
"Okay. Bye!" I said quickly before turning around to walk towards the gate.
"Hang on!" He ordered. "You're not leavin' without a kiss."
I landed in Brisbane and my driver was there waiting for me.
"Hi Jules!" He said with a smile.
"Hi Ben!" I replied.
"Ready to meet Bernard?"
Of course I was.
Someone from the magazine took us to some house where Bernard was waiting. We all sat together at a table in the backyard. The sun was shining so we definitely needed sunglasses.
"Hello, Mr. Fanning." I said as I extended my hand for him to shake it.
"Please." He replied. "Call me Bernard."
We talked about his music. What was new. Would he ever consider reforming Powderfinger? Then we talked about him living in Spain for a time. His wife was from there but they decided to move back to Australia to raise their kids.
"D'you have any children?" He asked me.
"Does her husband count?" Ben piped up.
We all chuckled a little at the joke. I always tried hard not to take the piss out of Liam in public. More for the sake of his kids than him really.
The interview was over but we couldn't leave until Bernard played us a song. He pulled out his acoustic guitar and sang us something off his debut solo album.
Up so early feel so bright
Didn't get much sleep last night
Freight train rattled through my head
Whistle blowing love is dead
Is dead
Heart attacked by fear and doubt
