I sat down on the edge of the bed beside him. "Liam!" I said as I shook him. "Liam!"

He groaned and moved around a little as he lay there totally hidden under the blankets.

"I brought you tea."

"Ya can dump it down the shitter as far as I'm concerned." He said without moving the blankets.

"Oh come on!" I spoke again. "It's got extra honey."

"I don't care!"

I sighed. "Fine. I'll go dump it down the toilet...along with this eggy bread."

"You what?" He said stopping me from getting up.

"I made you eggy bread to go with your tea." I informed him.

He pulled the duvet down just enough to peek out at me. He quickly turned to his left and saw the plate sitting on the nightstand. "Did you put extra syrup on it?" He asked curiously.

"Yep."

He continued to stare at it quietly.

"Better go flush it down the commode." I said as I reached over and picked it up.

"Hang on!" Liam said as he grabbed the plate. He looked up at me. "No sense in lettin' it go to waste, is there?"

"Nope." I shook my head.

He groaned a little with a sigh as he sat up. When he was situated, I passed him the plate and he set to work cutting the bread with his fork. "This is fuckin' black mail, this is." He told me with his mouth full.

"Hey! No one said you had to eat it." I reminded him.

He hummed in sarcastic agreement.

"So does this mean I'm forgiven for taking Our Kid up on his offer?"

"No."

"Oh come on Li-"

"It's not fair!" He interrupted me. "I need ya more than he does. If you're not there to take notes at the meetings and that, who will?"

"You can tell Pat to have them print you off an extra Power Point."

"Nah. That's not good enough. They don't put enough detail on 'em and I can't type as fast as you can when they're goin' over stuff."

"You need to stop being so reliant on me." I said.

He slammed his fork down on the plate. "I pay ya to take notes. And fetch tea. And sort clothes. And all the other shit you signed up for. You practically begged me to give ya a fuckin' job and now you're tryin' to throw it right back in me fuckin' face! I know what you're playin' at, Jules, and it's not fuckin' funny!"

I looked away from him. It was too hard to look him in the eyes at that point.

"And our Noel is right there beside ya playin' along 'cuz he knows he fuckin' can."

"I like helping with the boys." I replied softly. "Just as much as I like taking care of you."

He rolled his eyes.

I reached over and began stroking his lower bottom left jaw.

He closed his eyes and pushed his jaw into my palm. "This is even more black mail." He mused through a quiet sigh.
