Chapter 15

Johnny's POV

He shot her. He shot right in the chest. Thank God it wasn't in the head but, he still shot her. Darry tackled Louis and started beating him. I went over and took the tape off of her mouth while Dally, Steve, Soda, and Two- Bit cut the rope with their blades. Ponyboy an Kathy went to call for ambulance. Candy picked June up and laid her on the floor with June's head in her lap. Candy was crying and asking God to let June live. We don't go to church that much after what happened to the Curtis parents. But that doesn't mean we don't believe in Him. The other girls and Two- Bit came in and took Louis; who was knocked out, into the room we tied Jackie up in. Probably going to tie him up too. Ponyboy and Kathy came in and said that the ambulance is on there way along with the police. Rosie went over to Soda and hugged him and started crying in his chest. Kathy went and did the same thing to Dally. Two- Bit came back in an started rubbing Candy's back telling her that everything will be alright. Beth went over to Darry trying to calm him down. Steve and Evie were hugging as Evie was bawling and Steve was shredding tears once every minute. Ponyboy was crying and had his head in his hand. I am just looking at the girl I have known her whole life, possibly dying. I know earlier I said that I like her as a sister. Well, I lied. I like her more than a friend and now she is dying. Why does something so precious, have to be in so much pain? She is in so much pain and I can't do anything about it. I am supposed to protect her and I am not doing that nor did I do that.

June's POV

I saw my mom and dad. Am I dreaming? Am I going to wake up screaming and crying and asking them to come back? That is how it always ends. But, this one is different. I remember everything. Then it all went black, then I saw a light and then I saw my parents. I am at a park. There are a lot of kids having a good time and I don't even know who they are. Wait a minute. Am I in Heaven??!! "June baby?" I heard a voice call out and I knew who it was. My mom. "Mom?" I asked and then I saw the most beautiful woman that I have ever seen. "Baby, you are going to be ok. This is just a visit. Before you ask, your father is watching over the people you love most in your life. But, you are going to go back because they need you. Look at your sister. You guys are so close and she is going to lose it if you don't go back." She said and I started to cry. She came over and grabbed my face and kissed my forehead. "I love you." My mom said and then started to fade away. "I love you too." I said and I knew she heard me. Then everything went black.

Ponyboy's POV

The ambulance got here and took her away. All of us are scarred what will happen to her. Right now we are following the ambulance. Darry and Beth rode with her. Soda is driving this time, thank God. Dally is loosing it. He keeps cussing things out no matter what they are. Everybody else is crying with their boyfriend or girlfriend. Johnny keeps saying 'I'm sorry' to himself. Candy is punching everything. I was snapped out of my thoughts and a hard stop. I looked up and saw we were at the hospital. They rushed June into the emergency room. We tried to see her but, the doctors and nurses wouldn't let us. We are now sitting in the waiting room. "When are they gonna be done?! I can't take it!" Dally yelled. Darry was gonna answer but was cut of by doctors and nurses rushing into the room June was in saying 'Code Blue!' We all stood up and and asked a doctor what was happening and he looked at us and said the words I never wanted to hear. "We are loosing her."
