Chapter 22

This is Evie but she doesn't have all of the tattoos!!

Darry's POV

After Tanner told us about what would happen tonight with the Socs, we all wanted to go to bed to get our minds off this. I woke up this morning and started breakfast; pancakes, bacon, eggs, and chocolate cake. I didn't know why, but I'm worried about the gang. Yeah I know they will be fine but, I just don't want them to get hurt. Yes, the delinquent has his partner in crime with him, the Mickey Mouse lover has his Minnie, the movie star has his model, Tanner has us and we have Tanner, the dreamer has his shy best friend, the crooked tooth kid has his lover, and my baby has me. Besides Beth, they are my kids. No good parent wants their kids to get hurt. I would do anything for them. I love them so much. I was snapped out of my thoughts by yelling. I walked out into the living room to see what was going on and I have to say, it was pretty funny. Steve and Soda were wrestling because they both wanted the last piece of cake not knowing there is more, Two-Bit turned the TV on too loud and Ponyboy was yelling at him because he woke him up, Candy was yelling at Dally because he asked if 'the little shit (June) wanted to go smoke', Kathy was cussing everyone one out, Rosie was laughing her ass off when Soda and Steve pinned her down and told Johnny to come and tickle her, Tanner was asking Beth if this happens every morning, Evie was sitting on the couch reading a magazine while all if this was going on, and June was still in her room. I laughed and went back into the kitchen and got breakfast all set up so the kids can come eat. I went back into the living room and whistled. Everybody stopped and looked at me "Breakfast is ready. Go eat!" I said and everybody went to the kitchen tackling each other because they wanted their food first. Two-Bit won. He got his plate of food in one hand and then picked Candy up and threw her over his shoulder and yelled "THIS ALL I NEED!! FOOD AND MY MINNIE MOUSE!" I chuckled and went to kiss Beth and then I went to June's room to go see how she is doing.

June's POV

I woke up to someone's hand one my forehead. I opened my eyes and saw it was Darry. "Hey June. How ya feelin'?" He asked and I rubbed my eyes as he sat on the bed. "Fine. Did you guys eat yet?" I asked. He smiled and said "Actually, I just got done fixing breakfast. Did you not just hear what was going on out there? I mean it was so loud, I am surprised that it didn't wake up the whole damn neighborhood!" Darry said and I laughed. "No I didn't. What happened?" I asked and Darry told me what everybody was doing and it sounded like a normal morning. "Did you tell anyone that breakfast is ready yet? Because if you haven't I want to be the first one so I don't have to wrestle people." I asked. He laughed and said "Yeah I already announced it. Sorry. Two-Bit won. He had his plate in one hand and threw Candy over his shoulder and started yelling." We both laughed and I got up out of bed. With Darry on my heels, we walked out into the living room. I wasn't in that room for forty seconds when I got picked up by Steve and he spun me around and yelled "SHE'S ALIVE!! THE KID'S ALIVE!!!" I laughed and so did everyone else. "Of course I'm alive. I have only been sleeping for a couple of hours." I said and Steve let me down and looked at me. "Shoot kid, you have been sleeping since yesterday morning." Steve said and I looked at Darry and asked "Really?" He nodded and I said "Cool! I should do that more often." People chuckled and I went to get my plate of food and sat by Tanner. "Hey sorry about yesterday. I wasn't feeling like myself and I shouldn't of acted like I did." I said to Tanner. He smiled and said "It's fine." I returned the smile and kissed his cheek. He blushed and looked down. I didn't notice it was quiet until I looked up and saw the gang staring at us. Ok, so what if I kissed Tanner on the cheek? It wasn't on the lips. Not the same thing. They should know. I smirked at them which got me death glares and continued eating. The gang started talking and I asked to no one in particular "So, what are we going to do tonight?" They stopped eating and Candy said "That there is a party going in tonight and we are all going except you." Wait, what?! "Why can't I come?" I asked frustrated as hell. "Because you are too little for that stuff. So you can't go." Candy said and this time I shot her a glare. "Is Ponyboy going?" I asked and Candy nodded. "How is that fair?! We are both the same age!" I yelled standing up from the table. Candy stood up and said "June, he is still older than you and... And he knows how to fight." She said the last part like she didn't want to say it and she didn't mean it. "Is Tanner going?" I asked. Candy looked at Tanner and Tanner said "No, I'm not. I have to be home tonight. My brother is coming home from college." He said it like he didn't want to. What is going on?!? "You know what? Fine by me guys! Do whatever the hell you want! I don't give a shit! I have better things to do anyway! I'm going out whether or not you guys like it! Hell, I may even make new friends!" I said this time very calm. I put my plate away and went to my room and put on jeans, a Mickey Mouse shirt that used to be Two-Bit's but I cut it so it shows a little bit of my stomach, then I put on my black converse, and I brushed through my hair and left it down in it's beach waves. I walked out of my room and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. After that, I walked out into the living room where I had all the gang's eyes on me and walked out the door. I started walking down the street with no destination. I don't care where I go, as long as I am out of that house. I was walking when I saw Shawn and his buddies. Shawn stopped in front of me and said "June, I'm sorry. I shouldn't of done what I did. You shouldn't be treated like that and I just wanted to apologize." I was shocked and said "Wow, Shawn. This was unexpected. It's fine, I guess." He smiled and asked "Do you want to hang out with us today?" I thought about this for a second. I will get my mind off if the gang if I go and I have nothing to do. But he was a jerk to me. Oh well. Maybe he was having a bad day? "Sure." I said. His smile got even bigger and he asked "Where do you want to go? Or where were you heading?" I shrugged my shoulders and said "I wasn't heading anywhere particular. I don't care where we go. I just needed to get out of the house." Shawn nodded and said "Ok. Well, before we start the day, let me introduce everyone. June, this is Tommy, Zack, Justin, Billy, Mark, John, Kaleb, Seth, Ben, Will, Austin, Josh, Alex, Ian, Ethan, Skylar, Max, Amanda, Hana, Kayla, Veronica, Ashley, Grace, Kayla, Laura, Ali, Libby, Phoenix, and Gabe. Guys this is June." Wow. I didn't realize there was that many. Those aren't even the guys that I saw last time! I said 'hi' and I got it back. Imagine them and the other guys compared. That would be one hell of a gang. We started walking when we ended up at a house that I have never seen before. "This is our house. It was abandoned before we got here so we thought why not? Besides our parents don't care about us so we mostly stay here." Shawn said and the rest nodded and went in the house and started messing around. I walked in with Shawn and he said to make myself at home. The girls came up to me and dragged me by my arms to the upstairs and into a room. I had a confused look on my face and they noticed and Ali said "Since we are going to be best friends, we need to know EVERYTHING about you. So spill!" I looked at the other girls and asked "Where do I start?" They laughed and I didn't know why. I just asked a question. Ali came over to me and sat me down on the floor and went to open the window because it was really hot in here. The rest of the girls sat down and Amanda said "Anywhere you want." I nodded and told them about my life. I didn't tell them EVERYTHING like they wanted because I don't know them very well and then the rest of the girls said I guess, everything about them. All I told them was that I was a greaser, my parents died and how, my siblings, the gang, and Tanner. By the time we finished talking, it was about time for the sun to go down. "Well since we know everything about each other, June is Tanner your boyfriend?" Kayla asked. "No, but I wish. So far he is just a friend." I said and Ashley yelled "Good! Because he is mine! Since we are best friends and I liked him first, then you can't like him." Umm... First off bitch, I can like and date whoever I want! "We haven't known each other for a full twenty four hours yet and I can date or like whoever I want." I said and got up and started walking to the door. Ashley got in my way and said "Tanner is mine. He doesn't like you." I rolled my eyes and said "We both know the only reason you are saying that is because he likes me." I reached for the door knob and but my hand got slapped away. I looked up at Ashley and she said "You are not leaving here until you swear on your family's life that you will back off of Tanner." Hell no! "No. I will not swear." I said and she answered "Big mistake." Then she tackled me to the ground with the rest if the girls following her lead. Laura held my wrists down, Hana held my feet, and Ashley sat on my stomach. Amanda grabbed a chair and Ali grabbed rope. What the hell?! All I said was that I wasn't going to stay away from Tanner and I am getting tied to a chair?! They sat me in the chair and started to tie the rope around my feet and wrists. When they were done, Ashley got to my height and asked "Are you going to swear now?" I gave her a glare and spit in her face. She slapped me across the face and nodded back at Veronica. Veronica came and tied a cloth around my mouth and then the girls left. How do I get myself in these situations?

Soda's POV

After June left, Candy started to cry. She felt bad about lying and being mean to June. But we had to do it. I could tell Tanner felt the same way. We tried to cheer both of them up but it didn't work. We all sat around wondering where June is and what is going to happen. When the time finally came around to leave to see what the Socs want, we all had to change whatever mood we were in and hope for the best. We all started to walk to the park and when we got there, the rest if the greasers were already there. Darry went to shake hand with all of the leaders if each gang and came back to us. The guys told their girls to stay near them and if they need anything then yell. Dally said the same thing to Johnny, just like Darry and I did to Pony and Darry, Pony, and I said to Candy. Candy did the same for Tanner because she thinks of him as another little brother and she feels bad for him because of what happened today. Then the Socs arrived. Every Soc was there except for the girls. Just like the greasers were all here but we had our girls. Bob stepped up and said "Listen greasers. We just wanted to talk. I'm pretty damn sure that we all know who June Curtis is. Well, We over heard these kids talking saying they wanted to get back at this certain little greaser, by hurting June. Well, June is our favorite greaser to jump so we will help protect her. There are more of those little punks than there are of us all combined. They are middle class so no wonder." Darry stepped forward and asked "How do we know that this isn't some of your bull shit?" Bob chuckled and asked "Because don't you think we have better things to do than protecting a greaser?" He has a point there. "Fine but if you make wrong move, I will beat the living shit out of you." Darry said and Bob nodded and shook Darry's hand.

June's POV

I had been tied up for about ten minutes until Shawn came in and said "Oh my gosh! June! I'm so sorry! I didn't know they would do this!" He came and untied me and I got up and said "I have to go Shawn. Thanks for inviting me. It has been... Interesting." I walked down stairs and out the door I got to the gate at the same time the gang did. Even Tanner! "What the hell?! Tanner! You lied to me?!" I yelled and Tanner looked so sad. He didn't answer, Candy did. "Now, June take it easy on him! He lied for a good reason and he told him to lie to you! So don't go around getting pissed off at people when you don't have the whole damn story!" She yelled. "Oh, Candy... I didn't know you... Are a bitch!" I said but yelled the very last part. Candy looked at me stunned, so did the rest of the gang. I could see tears in her eyes. Candy broke the silence and said "If I'm a bitch, then why am I trying to protect you then? Huh? You little brat! I'm nice to you and you still hate me, I protect you and you hate me, and I love you and you still hate me! Well June, you are really going to hate me after I say this..."  She paused and Darry said "Girls enough! Don't say one more word. Candy don't. I mean it." That didn't stop Candy because she said "Your the reason we don't have parents! You should have been the one to die! Your the reason Darry isn't at college, your the reason Soda and I are dropouts, your the reason Beth doesn't go to college, and your the reason we don't have mom and dad! Your worthless, June! Dally's right! You are a piece of shit! I know he doesn't mean it like that but he should! Because that is what you are! Everybody could live without you June! Now, you can call me a bitch." I had tears in my eyes and said "If that is how you guys feel then I won't stick around anymore." I walked inside the house and grabbed my switchblade; that I should of had before and I grabbed all of my money that I had and tuck it in my front pocket. I wrote a note and left it on my bed and I walked out into the living room and before I walked out I heard Pony say "June, she didn't mean it." I was facing the front door but turned around to look at my third oldest brother and looked at him with tears in my eyes and said "I don't know Pony. But I know when I'm not wanted." I put my hand on the door and I heard one last voice say "June, if your leaving then, I'm going with you." I turned back around again and saw it was Tanner. I shook my head 'no' and got one last look at the gang and walked out the door. It seems that I have walked out that door a lot. Have you noticed that?
