Chapter 21

Tanner's POV

I didn't think that went to bad. Right? Well, June's family is really cool. They are so protective over her. I love it. She is too loving and fragile to be hurt. Honestly, if she does gets hurt by someone, I think she would literally break. Or if she gets hugged too tight, then she will break. She is pretty fragile. I do remember her saying that she was kidnapped. That pisses me off! Who would even think of kidnapping someone? Especially June! They hurt her real bad. I was brought back to reality by a car horn. I turned around and saw it was a couple of Socs. Great. They are probably drunk. I turned back around and continued to walk home. "Hey greaser!" One of the Socs yelled. I ignored the son of bitch and kept walking. The car stopped and three Socs got out and walked towards me while I walked in the other direction. "Hey greaser! I'm talking to you!" The same Soc said. I just flipped them off. One of them tackled me and pinned my arms down. The one that was talking sat in my chest and pulled a blade on me. The other one pinned my feet down. Shit. "Listen here greaser. We just wanted to talk." The lead Soc said who is known as Andy; Bob's little brother. "When does a Soc just want to talk?" I asked and Andy put his hand over my mouth and said "Would you just shut up and listen. We wanted to know if you know Shawn." He took his hand off of my mouth and I said "Yes I know him." I'm so confused. Why are they asking about Shawn? What is going on? Or what the hell is going to happen? "We over heard him talking to a couple of buddies of his. They were planning on getting even with you by doing something to June. I know I know, Socs helping Greasers? It is crazy but, believe it or not, the Socs like June. She is our favorite little greaser to jump and the Socs are the only ones that have permission to hurt her." Andy said. I rolled my eyes and said "You don't have permission to hurt her and you never will. She may be your favorite greaser to jump but, that doesn't mean it's right and if Shawn has something to say to me or even do, then he can do it to me. Not June or anyone else." Andy smirked at me and put his blade away. "Greaser here is smart. Well, the Socs want to talk to the Greasers so be at the park tomorrow night at 11:00." They got up and before they left I grabbed Andy's shirt collar and said "I am only doing what you say, for June. If it wasn't for June, I wouldn't be listening to you. Oh and if you ever put your hand on my mouth again and it isn't a punch, I will not hesitate to kick your ass. Got it?" He smiled and said "Got it." He got in his car and left. I walked the rest if the way home and went to bed thinking about everything that is happening.

June's POV

I woke up and went out to the living room in my short shorts and a plain T-shirt. I sat on the couch and decided that today will be a lazy day. My head felt heavy so I put it on one side of the couch and my feet at the other end. I'm taking up the entire couch. The door flew open and I didn't have to look to know it was the gang. The gang didn't sleep here last night because they had things to do. Soda just came out of the shower with a towel on but, went in his room and came out in only jeans. Steve went straight to Soda and put him in a head lock. Evie was talking to Rosie about their boyfriends being nerds. Kathy and Dally was betting on who would win in a poker game and Two-Bit went in the kitchen to get a beer and cake. Johnny went to see where Ponyboy was, who was in his room. Beth was in the kitchen with Darry cooking breakfast. Candy came out of her room and started talking to Two-Bit. It was a usual morning that I love so much. Soda and Steve stopped wrestling and gave each other devious smiles. I wasn't paying attention to them because I was watching Mickey. I didn't realize the room was silent until I saw Soda's head above mine and Steve blocked my view of the TV. "What Soda?" I asked annoyed. "What are you doing?" He asked ignoring my question. "I'm laying on the couch. What does it look like I'm doing?" I asked still annoyed. Steve answered this time by asking "Is it that time of the month?" I glared at him and said "No it isn't and Steve, it will be a living hell. So move." Steve looked at Soda and Soda nodded. Soda grabbed my hands and Steve grabbed my feet and said "Your feet are so little!" I rolled my eyes and yelled "DARRY!!!!" The guys put me on the floor and then they laid on the couch. Jerks! I didn't move, I just laid exactly where they put me down at. The rest if the gang was trying not to laugh. I glared at them and Johnny came and sat on the floor by my head and put my head in his lap. He played with my hair and the phone started to ring. Beth came and answered it. "Hello?" Beth asked and there was a small pause and she said "Oh hi Tanner. Do you want to talk to June?" There was another pause but longer than the first one. "Ok. Come on over, we will be here." Beth said and she hung up. By this time she had all of our attention and she said "Tanner is coming over because he has something to tell us." The gang looked at me and I said "What? I didn't do anything." They nodded and Darry said that breakfast was ready. Everyone even Johnny, got up and went to the kitchen and them to the table to eat. I was still on the floor when Darry said "June, breakfast is ready." I shrugged and said "I'm not hungry." Darry came over and asked "Are you feeling ok?" He asked and put his hand on my forehead seeing if I have a fever. "Darry I'm fine. I'm never hungry." I said and Darry looked down at me and said "June, you are always hungry." I shook my head no and Darry stood up and put me over his shoulder. I could feel the gang's eyes on me and I didn't like it. I just let my oldest brother carry me back to my room and let me sleep.

Candy's POV

Darry came out of June's room and said "I don't know what is wrong with her but, she doesn't have a fever. Let's just keep an eye on her." We nodded and finished eating when there was a knock on the door. I answered it and it was Tanner. I let him in and Ponyboy asked "What do you want to talk to us about?" Tanner put his hand in his pockets and asked "Where is June?" I started to get worried and said "She is in her room sleeping l. We don't know what is up with her. What is going on?" Tanner nodded and said "I didn't want June to hear this just yet. It might freak her out." He explained everything. Who Shawn was, what was happening, who the Socs were that stopped him, why Shawn is trying to get back at him, and what will happen tonight. We were all concerned about June but, more concerned about what might happen to her. We all decided that we would get the Shepherd's gang and the other greaser gangs to go with us tonight but, not June. We will tell June that we have to go out tonight and she can't go because we won't let her. I hope tonight goes ok.
