Chapter 39

Tanner's POV

I'm nervous about what she has to say. I have to talk to her to. We need a break. I want a break to see if I'm the reason that she's in danger all the time. If I'm not then great but if I am, then I don't know. I don't want to put her in danger. I love her. "I need to talk to you too." I said and I could tell she was nervous. "You go first." We both said at the same time. "How about we say what we need to say at the same time?" June suggested and I agreed. "I think we need a break." "I think we need to talk more." We both looked at each other not really knowing what to say next. "What?" We both asked at the same time. "What do you mean we need to talk more?" I asked and I saw her eyes turn glossy. She's gonna cry because of me. "I don't think we're talking that much and we need to tell each other how we really feel. But apparently you don't feel the same way as me." She said and I saw a single tear fall and my heart broke. "June I think we need a break because I want to make sure that I'm not the reason that you're in trouble all of the time." I said and she looked at the ground and said "You're not the reason! Trust me you're not!" She looked up at me and I couldn't stand to see her like this so I was the one that looked at the ground. "I just want to make sure. June, I couldn't stand if I was the reason that you're getting hurt all the time. I would literally kill myself. Just for a week. I'll still protect you but I won't be around as much. If I'm not the reason, I take you out on a real date. If I am, then you will always be mine no matter what. Even if you move on." I said and I got up and was gonna kiss her forehead but she stopped me and said "Just leave." I walked to the door and before I left, I looked back at her and she was now looking at the ground with more tears falling. Damn.

Candy's POV

I was out with Jessica, Ariana, and Lily. I don't know why they wanted to hang out with me because they never hung around me when I was in school. They were always mean to me but I gave Jessica a black eye and they stopped. She asked for it though. Right now, we are in the Dingo eating lunch and Lily was sitting next to me in a booth. "Candy, we miss you at school." Ariana said and the other two girls agreed. "Yeah, I miss it too but my family is more important to me than my education." I said and it was quiet until Jessica asked "So, how's Sodapop?" They always used to like Soda and I guess they still do. Soda always complained about them after school. He hated them and I think he still does but, he doesn't want to be mean or hurt their feelings so he is nice around them just like he is with everyone else. "Umm, good." I said not really wanting to talk about this. "I bet he's still hot, isn't he?" Ariana asked. I rolled my eyes and sighed thinking about how stupid this conversation is. I want to go home. The girls then laughed and started talking about their boyfriends who are Socs. These girls are Socs too and I have no idea why I'm hanging out with them actually now that I think about it. "Umm, I'm nit going to answer that. He's my twin brother and I don't think of my brother like that." I said and Jessica laughed and said "I don't even know why I asked. I know he is." This is gonna be a long day.

Johnny's POV

Dally, Two-Bit, Crystal, Pony, Braeden, and I are just walking around when I saw the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. The others saw me staring at her and said that I should go talk to her. She was in the lot sitting on the grass drinking a soda with a straw. She's breathtaking. I walked over to her and I looked back at the others and they were doing the hand signals that's shooing you away. I walked over and sat next to her and didn't say anything. "Hi there." She said and her voice made me fall in love with her even more. Wait, I'm not in love, am I? No, I haven't even met her yet. "H-hi, I'm Johnny." I said shyly and she smiled a beautiful smile and said "I'm Jessie. What are you up to?" I looked at my friends and they were smiling and Two-Bit was making kissy faces at me. "My friends and I were just walking around and I saw you over here and thought that you were lonely. But I don't have to stay if you don't want me to." I said and started to get up and leave but she stopped me and said "No no, stay. I wasn't doing anything anyway. Just watching the people and cars go by. I could use some company. So, tell me about yourself." I smiled a small smile and told her about my life; mostly my parents and the gang. I told her everything about the gang. I was talking to her like I talk to Pony or Dally. But what surprised me the most was that, I was actually talking. I never talk this much. Once I finally stopped talking I realized that the others had gone off somewhere and now it's just me and her. "I'm sorry about your parents but at least you have your gang to get you through it all." She said and I nodded and agreeing with her and said "Your turn. Tell me about yourself." She smiled and looked at the ground and said "Well, my parents don't beat me. They are married but they are having a rough time right now. I found out that my mom cheated on my dad and she asked for a separation but my dad didn't want that. He treats her like a queen and she treats him like shit. I feel bad for him. They're each others first love and he still loves her but I can't say the same thing about her. She's a bitch. She tells lies and doesn't treat my dad right. My dad is my hero. He said that I would never see him cry but, when he found out about my mom, he broke. She broke him. They're still together but hanging on by a thread. But, my best friend who is also my cousin is the same age as me and she's avoiding me right now. I tell her everything and she tells me everything but out of no where she just doesn't want me around, I guess. But when the friends that she's avoiding me with, is being mean to her, she comes back to me and expects me to catch her when she falls. I will. I can't loose her. I have no siblings. I did but they passed away before they were even born. I was the second youngest out of four kids. But now I'm just the kid. Ya know? I've always wanted younger and older siblings. I want someone to look after me but I want to look after them. I was gonna have two older brothers and a little sister. But I don't. But I do know that they are watching down on me. I go to school still but I don't go everyday. Sometimes, I can't take it. I can only take so much. After everything that has happened to me, I haven't broke yet. But I know I will. Everyone does. I just haven't yet." She's a strong girl. I like her. But, I understood everything she said. "I'm sorry about the bad things that happened to you. My friend, June, she was kidnapped more than once, her parents died, and she gets jumped and bullied a lot. She would know exactly how you feel. Would you like to meet my gang?" I saw her eyes light up and she said "YES! Oh I would love to meet your gang! The way you talk about them they seem great!" I chuckled and we started our way to the Curtis house. Oh boy. But I can't wait for her to meet them.
