My mother, Edna, called me down for dinner. I hopped off my bed and skipped downstairs. I walked past Hank's old room, he wasn't there anymore. He went out and said something about, him coming back for me. I sat down and my mother put on music and singing along to word of Elvis Presley. My father had came in and kissed me on top of my head."Hello princess."
"Hello papa!" He then help my mother with plates and set the dinner in the table. My father sat down and my mother set down the food. "I miss Hank, mama." I sadly said to my parents and put my head down.
"Hayden, Hank will be soon." I then smiled and ate my food that my mother made.
"Dad, when Hank comes back can we go to the zoo?" I asked my father. As a child, full of questions, my parents hated that every time I have a new question, every damn time.
"Hayden, honey, eat okay. We'll talk about Hank later."
"Hank will be here soon! He said he would."after me say my older brothers name, my father snap.
"Hayden Violet McCoy! Stop talking and eat! Why won't you be like him as a child?! Why won't you stop being annoying and act like him?!" Being a kid, I was angry. I got out of my seat. "Sit back down Hayden!" My father yelled.
"No!" I screamed at him.
"Now Hayden Violet McCoy!"
"Norton! Stop it! Hayden listen to your father." I heard my mother yell and stood up from the table. I thought about flipping the table and all I knew, it flip. "Hayden stop!" Everything was crashing, the plates, frames on the wall, cups, anything, you name it.
"Hayden?" I heard my father and then I realized what I did. I didn't think, I took off running to my room and locking. I was frighten, I could've hurt my parents.
Two days later
I didn't come out of my room, my mother would come in and give me food, but I wouldn't eat it. I didn't spoke a word to them both. I wrapped myself with my blankets and faced the wall. Then I heard voices.
"She won't come out. She's scared ever since that night."
"Where's dad?"
"Working." I realized that I heard Hank's voice. I ran to my door and locked it so I wouldn't hurt anyone else including him. I almost made it my bed and I heard a voice I wasn't familiar with.
Can you open the door for us, Hayden, please?
I looked around my room to find the voice.
"Who are you?" I asked the voice, hoping it was still listening.
Why won't you open the door and see.
I walk back to my door and saw a older man on a wheelchair and my brother next to him. I looked at them both.
"Hayden." Hank came in the room and hugged me.
"No stop!" I screamed and my lamp flew across the room. "I don't want to hurt you." I whispered to Hank and I saw the sadness in his eyes. Then he cleared his throat.
"Hayden, I want you to meet someone." Hank introduced me to the man in the wheelchair.
"It a pleasure to finally meet you Hayden! I heard so much about you." The voice in my head now sound familiar. It was his. "My name is Charles Xavier."
"You're the man who talked in my mind." I looked down at my feet. I heard a small laugh from him.
"Yes, that was me. So tell me, Hayden, tell me what happened two nights ago." I sat down on my bed. Hank leaned against the door frame and Mr. Xavier moved closer.
"I was mad at my mama and papa. I thought of flipping the table and it flip. Then everything crashed down." I cried. "What happening to me?" Hank sat down on my bed and pulled me in for a hug.
"It's okay, Hayden. Nothing bad is going to happen." He kissed my head. Then Hank looked at Mr. Xavier and nodded. He let me go and walked out of the room and I heard him and mom talking.
"What's going to happen to me Mr. Xavier?" He smiled at me.
"I'm going to take to a really nice school. Where's a lot of kids like you and I." Hank came in and pulled out a bag.
"Hayden, say good bye to mama, okay." I nodded and I went downstairs to tell her.
"Mama?" I asked her. "Why are you crying?"
"Oh nothing sweetie. I'm sad because I wouldn't be able to see you as much. I know that Professor Xavier is going to take good care of you." She pulled me in for hug, that lasted 5 minutes. Hank and Professor Xavier were ready to go. Professor said goodbye to my mother and promised her that I'll be in good hands.
"Remember that she likes to sleep with her light on. Hayden be a good girl, okay? Don't forget that she likes her stuff organized, her teddy bear needs to be with her when she sleeps, and she likes when you sing her to sleep-" Hank then cut mama off.
"Mom, I know. Don't worry." She pulled us in for a hug and kissed us both.
"Bye my sweet babies." I waved good bye and we left and went in the car.
At the school
I held my brothers hands as we walked the halls of the school. I saw kids running out of the rooms and going to another.
"Come, Hayden." We walked out to the backyard. I saw Hank run out and put a bench and ran back. "I want you to demonstrate me how you flipped that table a few nights ago." I told myself to flip the table but nothing work. "Why won't you try to relax?" I nodded and I stared at the table. I raise my hand and moved it quickly to the left, making the bench fly into the pond. I look back and Professor Xavier looked surprised.
"Hayden? May I talk to your brother for a minute?" I nodded my head and skipped to the patio and look at the flowers. I started to giggle as I move the pots to the other side. Hank and Professor came towards me and gave me a smile. "Welcome Hayden to Xavier's school for the gifted!"
