Chapter 31

Decision

Daily Planet

Lois stormed the Daily Planet, pissed off. Clark followed behind her, smiling. It seemed as if nothing could wipe that smile off his face. Lois raided Perry's office. Clark followed behind her.

"I have your damn story, chief." Lois said to Perry, angrily. "Why do you send me to report this bullcrap? You know that I hate Lex Luthor!"

"Because you're a good reporter Lois, the best here..." Perry smiled.

Lois rolled her eyes, "Where's that Olsen kid?"

Jimmy walked into Perry's office right when he heard his last name, "Right here, Ms. Lane!"

"Can you get me a sweetened coffee, please?" Lois asked kindly.

"You got it Ms. Lane..." Jimmy replied.

Perry got out an E-Cig and started vaping it, "What are you doing, Perry? I thought you quit that stuff..." Lois questioned

"I did, Lois. Thank you so much for being 'concerned'. This is one of those new E-Cigs..." Perry smirked and turned to Clark, "You got anything, Clark?"

"The same things Lois has, chief..." Clark answered.

"I wanted you two to collaborate on this story. Make sure it's good." Perry barked his ordered.

"You want me to work with the new guy?" Lois questioned, annoyed.

"He seems fine to work with. I don't hear you complaining about him right now." Perry smirked again.

"Fine." Lois sighed and looked at Clark, "But I'm the boss for this one."

"Whatever you say." Clark replied.

Cat Grant entered the office, sweating. Cat was a pretty, blonde haired woman almost Lois' age. She usually covered gossip but knew what was going on around town before everyone else.

"Perry, there's a fire located Downtown at the Museum of Heroes. Everyone got out, except for a class of second graders." Cat told Perry. "The firefighters, they don't know if they could save them."

"Get Troupe to head down there, tell him he's got this one." Perry commanded Cat as she walked out of the room. Perry had a sad tone in his voice. He had a heart.

"Hey Perry, it's almost lunch, can I have my break?" Clark asked, kindly.

"Go ahead, Kent." Perry replied.

Clark left Perry's office. Clark had the power to help those kids, he had to do something. Clark didn't want to expose his powers to the world but he had to. It was the only way those kids could live. He couldn't let them die, Jonathan and Martha wouldn't want him to let them die. Jor-El wouldn't want him to let them die either. Clark left the Daily Planet and changed into a brown jacket and blue jeans and headed Downtown to save the second graders.
