Chapter 46
Confronted
LexCorp Business Building
It was nighttime and Lex Luthor had just had an after party for his big announcement. It was opened to the public. However, it had tight security. Now that the party was over though, Lex was on the rooftops, looking at the city and all it's gracefulness.
Lex saw a small, brown pebble on the ground. It glared at him. Lex decided to pick it up and toss it up and down in his hands. While looking at the city and playing with the pebble, Lex noticed a red and blue object coming towards him. It was in the air, passing dozens of buildings. Lex knew what it was, a man, Superman. Eventually Superman got close to Lex and hovered above him.
"I know what you did Luthor. You killed Lana Lang." Superman growled as his eyes flared up.
"That's a pretty bold accusation, Superman." Lex smiled while tossing the pebble up and down. "Silas must have told you."
"You won't touch his son." Superman ordered.
"I do what I want. And why would you believe I killed Lana? She could've made me millions of dollars." Lex jabbed at Superman, "Are you trying to blame others for your mistakes, Superman?"
"Cut the crap Luthor." Superman sped up towards Lex and grabbed him by the neck. "Admit it!"
"Look at you." Lex laughed and coughed, "With all the power, you're still weak on the inside."
Superman's eyes turned brighter, "You're a murderer Lex, a manipulator! She didn't know what she was getting herself into! You played her! You played us all!"
"So what if I did? I accomplished my goal, get rid of you. And say I did kill Lana Lang, who's going to believe you over Lex Luthor, Metropolis' Golden Boy? The truth is, Superman, all I did was turn them against you."
Superman threw Lex on the ground, "Come on, keep going. Let your anger out. Show me who you really are... Show me that you're a threat." Lex seemed as if he wanted Superman to kill him.
Superman hesitated and realized what he was doing, "When I saw those blazing red eyes for the first time, I saw something that no one else did. I didn't see some hero, doing the right thing, I wasn't naïve. I saw the end of humanity, the end of our existence. I didn't do anything wrong, I showed everyone who you really were and that's the truth." Lex laughed.
"What happened to you Lex? What turned you into this psychopath?" Superman asked, "I could help you... I know somewhere, there's good in you, there's good in everyone."
Lex frowned for a second and then went back to scowling, "No you can't. Maybe, Superman, this is just who I am. Maybe there isn't good in all of humanity. Have you ever been to Gotham? Do you know about the clown that runs rampant there, who's killed over eighty five people? You're too much an optimist, Superman."
"And what are you?" Superman questioned.
"I'm a realist. I see everything. I can see right through you. I can see how stupid you are. All it takes is a little work and you'll hit the ground. I'm mean you're already falling aren't you?" Lex dropped the pebble he was holding the whole time off of the building.
"I'm not scared of you Luthor. The people of Metropolis might trust you now but they'll see who you really are. I'm coming back to Metropolis and you won't stop me." Superman told Lex.
"Fine come back. You won't survive. You'll be dead soon, Superman because that's what happens to everyone who can't see the whole picture."
