Chapter 35
Superman
Metropolis
Lois was walking home after a long day of work. Her new co worker, Clark had called in sick today. She thought it was interesting, the new guy calling in sick on his second day of work. Lois shrugged it off, more credit for her she guessed.
It was almost six o'clock. Lois usually didn't work after dinner but because Clark wasn't there, she figured she would do his work. He'd owe her a solid when he gets back.
Lois was walking through an alleyway. It was a shortcut to get to her car. There was a hooded man smoking a cigarette, sitting against a brick wall. He had his right hand in his pocket. He holding something, something of medium size. When Lois walked passed the man, the man got up and pulled his right hand out of his pocket. In his right hand was a handgun.
"Purse, now lady." The hooded man demanded.
Lois smacked the hooded man with her purse and kneed the man in the stomach. "You chose the wrong girl to mess with, buddy."
The hooded man recovered from Lois' attacks and smacked Lois in the face. Lois fell on her side and the man pointed the gun at Lois, smiling.
"Oh, you're going to regret that, lady." The hooded man stated.
The hooded man pulled the trigger on his gun. Lois thought she was going to die but then, a blue and red blue appeared in front of her and caught the bullet. The blue and red blur went away to reveal a man. It was the man who rescued Metropolis Airlines Flight AC1 1938 and the second graders in the Hall of Heroes. The mugger tried shooting more bullets but they would just deflect off of the red caped man's body. The red caped man pushed the hooded mugger into a trash can, knocking him out. The man then turned around and smiled at Lois.
"Call 911. Tell them what you saw." The man in the red cape ordered as he began to fly away.
"Wait!" Lois shouted before the man in the red cape flew away, "I'm a reporter-"
"Yes, I know. You're Pulitzer Prize Winning, Lois Lane." The man in the red cape replied.
"Thank you for saving my life... Who are you?" Lois asked, kindly.
"I'm just an orphan trying to help out as much as possible. I'm only trying to do the right thing." The man in the cape said.
"What does the S stand for?" Lois pointed to the man's chest.
"It's a symbol of hope." The man answered Lois. "It's supposed to show everyone that there's always a tomorrow, no matter what."
"Hope doesn't start with S, neither does tomorrow. I've seen you on the news. People have been calling you the Man of Steel but I think that's a bit over the top." Lois smirked.
"It's whatever the people want." The man replied, "Look Ms. Lane, I have to go. There's someone else who needs me."
"Go, save them, Superman." Lois told the man in the red cape.
"Superman... I like it." The man in the red cape said, happily. "I'll see you around."
The man in the red cape flew off as Lois watched and secretly took a picture with her phone. "Hmm, Superman, good name Lois."
