New Friend
Smallville, Kansas
Clark and Lana walked to the Circus, which was thirty minutes away, walking distance. Lana was holding Clark's hand and was leaning on him. They walked by a few houses and heard one creating a lot of noise, two people were yelling at each other. It sounded like a father and a son.
"That's Pete Ross' house." Lana told Clark as Clark listened to the screaming. He could hear the screaming more than Lana because of his strength in hearing. He had heard Pete's father call Pete and idiot and a disgrace to the family. The screaming have Clark chills, he had never experienced anything like that with Jonathan.
Clark and Lana walked by the house but soon after, a blonde haired boy ran out, crying. It was Pete Ross. Clark and Pete had never gotten along, Pete would always bully Clark and make fun of the way he looked. Lana, kept walking but Clark told her to hold on.
"Maybe we should ask him if he wants to come. You told me yourself, Pete's father can be verbally abusive sometimes." Clark said.
Lana sighed, she didn't want him to come, "Go ask him..."
Clark walked to Pete, who was crying on the porch. "Hey Pete..."
"What do you want?" Pete grunted. He started to stop crying, not wanting to embarrass himself in front of Clark.
"Well, I was sorta here to ask if you wanted to come with us to the circus. I saw that you were having a bad time and maybe hanging out with other people could cheer you up." Clark said to Pete.
Pete wiped away his tears, instead of being angry at Clark, he was happy. "You know, I'd actually like that..."
"We'll buy tickets when we get there, you won't get in trouble right?" Clark asked.
"I don't care, my dad yells at me enough already." Pete stated.
Clark nodded to Lana, indicating that Pete could go.
