Chapter 32

Fire

Museum of Heroes

Clark arrived at the Museum of Heroes five minutes after he had changed into his hoodie and jeans. He ran fast, he might even be the fastest man alive but it's a big world. The Museum of Heroes was going down in flames and a class of second graders were trapped inside. Clark had arrived to help, so he did just that.

Clark wanted to be sneaky and run into the building unnoticed but that would take too long. The second graders didn't have much time. So instead, Clark just sprinted past the barriers that the firefighters had set up right outside the Museum. There were maybe a hundred people waiting outside, half were parents. They were crying, hoping that their children would be safe. Firefighters had tried to stop Clark but he had just shifted his feet to escape them. It was a good thing he was wearing his hoodie, so no one would see his face.

When Clark got inside the Museum, he felt warm air push up against his jacket. It wasn't anything Clark could handle though. Clark used his super hearing to look for the second graders. He found out they were trapped in the memorial dedicated to the Justice Society of America. The memorial was in the middle of the building, no wonder why the firefighters could rescue the second graders.

Clark punched through the walls keeping him from the second graders and eventually arrived in the memorial. The second graders were crying and coughing.

"It's okay, you're going to be alright." Clark told the scared children, "Follow me."

The scared second graders trusted Clark. They were desperate to get out. Clark noticed a second grade girl was hesitant on going. Clark put out his hand and the girl held it. Clark led the second graders out the pathway he had created. He made sure none of them would get hurt. When Clark and the children were about halfway to the exit, a part of roof almost came down on them. Clark had the parent outside crying. He was able to hold the roof up.

"Run to the exit!" Clark ordered them.

The second graders listened to Clark and made it outside. However, the same little girl who was holding Clark's hand had tripped. Clark sprinted to the girl and picked her up. He then rushed outside where everyone was watching him. There were even news trucks, video taping him. Nobody saw his face though, only that he had saved thirty five kids who had their lives ahead of them.

The kids ran to their parent while their parent hugged them, relieved that they were okay. The parents then turned to Clark, "Thank you..." The mother of the hesitant girl told Clark.

Clark nodded his head and flew away, into the clouds.
