Skylar
After getting home from Chloe's, I quickly took the ingredients for dinner out of the bag from the grocery store and threw them on the counter. I dumped the sausage in a pan on the stove, put a pot of water on the stove to boil, and started cutting up some cheese.
"Is that your head or your heart talking?"
I turned away from the cutting board abruptly and walked to my room to get my head phones.
I left shortly after Chloe asked that question, and I somehow avoided the answer. After the surprise passed, I asked her what happened last night with Ian, and she completely forgot about her question; going on to tell me some details in bed that I would rather not repeat.
Truthfully, I didn't want to know the answer to that question.
I grabbed my head phones and smashed them in my ears, blasting the music. But that didn't stop my head from talking.
"If he's such a whore...then why was he so upset about you not remembering the kiss? And, why didn't you too go all the way? Why'd he stop with just a kiss?"
Stop. Fucking. Talking.
I walked back into the kitchen and started stirring the meat in with the sauce as the noodles cooked.
As I stirred the meat furiously and fought with my inner self, I didn't hear Ryan come in until I felt him tap me on my shoulder.
"Oh my god!" I turned around and pulled my head phones out of my ears, "Jesus Christ Ryan! You scared me!" I put a hand to my chest, took my I-Pod out of my pocket, and paused the music, setting it on the counter. "Never, do that to me again."
Ryan put his hands up in surrender, "Okay, it won't happen again." He looked over her shoulder at the meat cooking in the pan, "Watcha making?"
I turned back around and continued to stir the meat, "Pasta."
I tried not to pay much attention to him as he watched me cook the pasta, but it wasn't easy. The air was being filled with more and more awkwardness the longer Ryan stood there beside me, watching me make the pasta.
Awkward.
It wasn't difficult reading him trying to read me. He was trying to see what I wanted.
Or more like what I didn't want.
But I'm not that easy to read, and he is. I continued to stir the meat and pasta noodles until they were cooked to perfection. "So how was basketball with Ian?" I questioned. I hoped that would distract him from the matter at hand.
He shrugged and sighed, "I lost."
I chuckled as I finished mixing the noodles, sauce, and meat. "Okay, well go take a shower so you can eat." I scrunched up my nose in disgust, "And you really smell."
A smirk took over his face, and a devilish look flashed in his eyes, "Oh no-" I tried to run out of the kitchen, but Ryan grabbed my waist and pulled me into his rock-hard chest. I squirmed in his grip, desperate to get out of his smelly hold. But that just made him lift me off the ground in a hug.
"Ryan put me down now!" I ordered through my laughs.
"Nope. I think you're enjoying this too much to be let down."
