Chapter Three - Skylar

"I'd rather live a life of 'oh wells' than a life of 'what ifs'."

Skylar

"Finally." I breathed out as I closed the front door and leaned against it. This week had been exhausting; Luke had me running all over town Monday to look for a stupid part for a stupid car. Monday night I got no sleep so I snapped at three customers Tuesday, causing Luke to become pissed at me and send me home earlier for some sleep. When I told him that I was fine, I swore that he was turning green so I followed his orders and went home early. Wednesday, I got a call from my mother. When I didn't answer, she left a voice mail, trying to check in. I don't know how she got my number, but I'm not going to over think it.

Thursday, Gen and I got in a fight over who was going to use the coffee pot.

I know; who gets in a fight over a freaking coffee pot? But neither of us got much sleep (my reasons totally opposite from hers) so both of us were crabby. We had completely forgotten about it by last night. And the worst part; today, I got a call from the local café and they informed me that the professor from Julliard that had been scheduled to be there next month, bailed and no one else could come out in time for me to make it in for this year.

All that had been running through my head all day since that call had been; what else could possibly go wrong?

I closed my eyes as I heard Genesis come around the corner hauling a big black bag behind her, "Hey Skylar!" she greeted cheerfully. "You better grab your bag! We're leaving in a half an hour."

I snapped my eyes open and stared at Genesis. Crap. How could I forget? I bolted to my room and grabbed my duffel bag from my closet and started throwing in random clothes. I ran into my bathroom and grabbed my toiletries, stuffing them in my bag quickly. I threw my phone charger on my bed and ran to my closet to grab my riding gear, throwing it in the bag and zipping it up. I quickly threw it on the couch in the living room and grabbed a granola bar to snack on before we hit the road.

"We're gonna stop somewhere to eat before we hit the road right?" I asked.

Gen opened her mouth to speak, but Adam beat her to the punch, "Yes! I'm starving! I need to get some food in my stomach!" I nodded in agreement and Genesis just huffed, "My God, you two are pigs. I have never met another person that can eat half of what you two can eat. That's going to be one expensive dinner."

Adam nodded in agreement. "And that's why Ryan's buying dinner."

Gen sighed, "Thank God. I wouldn't be able to afford that bill."

I stared at them in disbelief. What did they just say?

"Who's coming-" I didn't get to finish my question before the door burst open and the voice that I hadn't been able to get out of my head all week announced, "Honey, I'm home!"

I didn't even have to turn around to know that it was Ryan. I raised an eyebrow, "And when did you plan on telling me that Mr. Cocky was coming with us?" I asked.

Genesis blushed, "Oh yeah. I forgot to tell you didn't I?" she asked. I shrugged, "Yeah. You did"

Gen looked at Ryan with a raised an eyebrow, "So are you riding with us or separate?" she asked.

I widened my eyes at her. Excuse me!? Who's driving and would be the one stuck with him? Me!

Please say separate, please say separate, please say separate...
