Ryan
"So are you bringing your girlfriend to the party next week?"
I closed my eyes and leaned my head against the back of the couch. Did she really have to bring Skylar up right now?
"I don't know, mom."
She sighed, "And why not? I must meet this girl that has my son wrapped around her little finger."
I groaned and ran a hand through my hair in frustration, "We're kind of...fighting." the word burned as it came out my mouth and I wish that I wasn't forced to use it.
"Oh jesus. What did you do this time?"
"I didn't do anything. Just a miscommunication, I swear."
She sighed on the other end, "Yes, but does she know that?"
And then, as if on cue, I heard my phone beeping, saying that I had another call coming in. Not bothering to look at the caller I.D., I groaned, "Mom, I gotta go, there's someone on the other line."
"But sweetie, I need to tell you something about Skylar and C-"
"No, I'm going to hang up now. Bye mom, love you!" I switched to the other line, "Hello?"
There was a pause and at first I thought no one was there, until I heard her cracking voice, "Ryan?"
My heart practically jumped out of my chest at the sound of her voice, and I started to panic, "Skylar? What's wrong? Why are you crying?"
She took in a gulp of breath, "I-I'm sorry."
I closed my eyes and sighed in relief. She's sorry.
"Skye, where are you?"
"Uh, I'm walking from Daniel's house-"
"I'll meet you at the bus stop not far from there." Skylar sighed and I could practically hear the smile in her voice. "Thank you."
I hung up and threw on a sweatshirt and grabbed my keys, rushing to get to Skylar.
She was sorry.
Did that mean that she talked to Daniel?
Well yeah dip shit. That's why she said that she was walking from Daniel's!
Did this mean that she was taking me back? That we could continue where we left off? God I would love it if we could.
It seemed like I couldn't get there fast enough, I'm sure that I broke every speeding law though. When I finally pulled up in front of the bus stop, I saw Skylar sitting down with her head in her hands.
When she heard my door shut, her head snapped up and she stood up, walking toward me, "Ryan, I'm so sorry, I should've listened to you-"
I shook my head and grabbed the sides of her face, pulling her lips to mine. She sighed and immediately, I felt her relax against me. Her arms wrapped around my neck as the kiss deepened and I pulled myself closer to her. After a minute, I pulled away and said though my heavy breathing; "Don't apologize."
