Chapter Twenty-Three - Skylar and Ryan

"Even though we were never supposed to be together...I can't be with anyone else, no matter the consequences."

Skylar

"So, I was thinking."

"Uh oh, that's never a good sign."

Ryan rolled his eyes as I smirked, "As I was saying, my dad's hosting a family gathering party at his place next week, and I want you to come."

I stopped mid-bite, what?

My eyes glanced over at him and I set down my sandwich, "You want me to meet your family?"

He smiled and nodded, "Well, yeah. I think that they should meet my sexy new girlfriend."

I blushed bright red and my heart raced at what he said. I'm Ryan's girlfriend. So that means...

Ryan Gray is my boyfriend.

Ryan's face softened as he seemed to think over what he just said and his hand came up to cup my cheek, "If you're okay with that of course."

I could sense the double meaning behind his words and I smiled, leaning into his hold, "Yeah. I'm okay with that."

He smiled and went back to his food along with me, leaving us in a comfortable silence.

Ryan Matthew Gray's my boyfriend

And I'm his girlfriend.

I landed on the couch with an 'oomph' and groaned. "I'm so tired!"

Ryan chuckled and sat on the edge of the couch, setting my feet in his lap, "Then go to bed."

I looked at the time on my phone and shook my head. "It's six. If I pass out now, I'll be up at three, and I do not want that." Ryan smirked and crawled over me, leaning on his arms as he hovered over me, "Well, we could always pass the time..." I chuckled as he leaned down and kissed me. My hands gripped the front of his shirt as the kiss deepened. He slid on of his hands down my arm and under my shirt, running over my tattoo. I let out a moan and I blushed in embarrassment.

I pulled away for air and Ryan lent his forehead against mine. I laid there for a moment, enjoying Ryan's uneven breathing and his hand running up and down my hip almost absentmindedly.

When Ryan's fingers brushed against my cheek, my eyes opened to see Ryan staring intently at me. "What?"

He shook his head and smiled, leaning down and kissing my forehead. "Nothing." He braced himself to stand up, but I grabbed his arm, "Wait, stay."

His eyebrows scrunched in confusion, but he listened nonetheless. He laid beside me, my head resting on his chest and his hand resting on the small of my back. My eyes closed and I listened to the sound of Ryan's beating heart.

"Ryan."

"Yeah?"

"Do I have anything to be worried about?"

There was a moment of hesitation before he asked, "About what?"

I went for the safe route, "About your family. If they're anything like you, I think I have a lot to be worried about."

Ryan's chest rumbled as he chuckled, "The only one like me is my dad, the rest of the family is classy and boring. I don't even understand how we're related."
