Ryan
I took my phone out of my pocket and checked the time, 6:45. I looked back up at the guys around the crowded poker table, "Sorry guy, but I have to roll."
Everyone looked up at me, "Ryan Gray skipping out on our traditional poker night?" Jace asked, clearly amused. "She must be a good one." Daniel commented.
I let out a bark of fake laughter and flipped Daniel off, "Actually, I'm going out with Adam and Genesis." I said, shooting daggers at Daniel.
Jace's eyebrows rose, "And..." I rolled my eyes, "Why do you always think that there's an and? Maybe I just want to go out with some friends!" My reputation as a ladies' man wasn't exactly a secret, but it doesn't necessarily mean that every time I go out, it's for a damn woman!
"Ry, we know you."
I let out a frustrated sigh and shrugged on my sweatshirt. "Okay, so maybe Gen's so called 'hot' roommate is going too, but I'm really going to have fun, not get in the girls pants."
The guys merely shook their heads and continued with the card game, "Whatever, see you later man."
I gave them a three fingered wave and walked out the door to my truck. I quickly started it and pulled off the sidewalk and onto the main road. I pushed a little harder than necessary on the gas to feel the power of my Ford F-350. It relaxed me to drive my truck; it had just enough power for me. Not too much, but not too little either.
I mouthed the words to Linkin Park's, New Divide as I pulled up in front of the apartment complex that held mine and Adam's shared apartment. After shutting off my truck and hopping out of the monster, I walked up the stairs to the third floor apartment and unlocked the door. I ran to my bedroom and threw on a clean white t-shirt and a pair of dark jeans. I fixed my hair slightly and ran back out to my truck. I was late and needed to be at the restaurant like, now.
Shit.
I drove absentmindedly as my thoughts wandered to the girl that I'd be meeting tonight. Adam told me the other day that I knew her from work and that she was hot. Not Genesis hot, but hot. That took me by surprise, Adam never refers to any girl that they're attractive but Gen. She must be smokin! I just hoped that she didn't have boobs-for-brains like the last girl Adam tried to hook me up with. It would be nice to have an actual conversation with a girl that didn't include nail polish and hair products. Never going there again.
I pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant we were eating at and immediately recognized Genesis and Adam leaning up against the wall. They waved to me as I hopped out of my truck and walked over to them, "Hey guys. Sorry I'm late." I apologized as I leaned up against the wall beside them.
Gen waved her hand, "Its fine. My roommate's running a little late, but Skylar should be here any minute." That name surprised me, it sounded familiar...where did I know her from..?
And then all of a sudden, a brunette stopped beside me and gushed, "Oh my god, I'm so sorry. It was a busy day at work."
I gave her a once over but had to go back and do a double take; she was wearing a pair of black jeans, biker boots, a leather jacket with a black v-neck t-shirt on under with her brown hair falling down her back in waves.
